Wormhole encrypted file transfer app reboots Firefox Send after Mozilla fled

Amused to see that the parent company website - socket.dev - cannot be visited because it has a self signed certificate and has HSTS enabled so you can't add an exception (or can't in firefox, I haven't tried with other browsers)

Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to socket.dev because this website requires a secure connection.

socket.dev has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.

socket.dev uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.

Error code: MOZILLA_PKIX_ERROR_SELF_SIGNED_CERT

Which desktop Linux distribution?

Linux

(X)ubuntu

I use Xubuntu but that is more for historical reasons than any abiding love of XFCE. Any flavour of ubuntu seems good for many applications. Gaming perhaps not but for office use gaming probably isn't high on the agenda. I have a Win XP VM for those irritating apps that require me to use windows but I've managed to avoid firing it up for a couple of weeks now ...

And then there was the Viewty

also by Samsung (or was it LG?). The kind of name that instinctively made me think of cheap chinese knockoffs.

And the nice young lady handing out condoms for a british company whose name and product completely escape me so that was a really successful bit of tacky boothbabery.

Some Skypers get reconnected, but most still offline

Well at least you have a choice with Skype

As I noted at my blog yesterday (http://www.di2.nu/200708/16.htm ), if you're with France Telecom and your land line goes dead then you have to call them from a LAND LINE to report the problem. At least with Skype you can use Google talk or MS messenger instead.
