Re: "making a push to the cloud"

Only of course they re-branded their desktop software sage50 cloud, so it is a hybrid that resides on the desktop and syncs to the cloud for cloud services. Therby giving you the best of both worlds in functionality and total control over loosing your data yourself.

My MacBook Woe: I got up close and personal with city's snatch'n'dash crooks (aka some bastard stole my laptop)

Re: That's horrible.

That is slightly true.

If your laptop looks like garbage no one will try and steal it.

Smash it up. make it look tatty and you are pretty safe.

I wonder if you can get a beaten up laptop cover to go on your shiny new expensive laptop to make it appear to be worthless rubbish?

The secret to security is to make your neighbour a more attractive target, if you have less good stuff on display and better locks, they will go next door, criminals are, almost by definition, lazy people and will always choose the easy pickings.

Secret mic in Nest gear wasn't supposed to be a secret, says Google, we just forgot to tell anyone

Re: i believe it was a mistake..possibly

It is possible, but very unlikely.

In my opinion, they left the mic off the spec sheet because it was not activated and had no function, so any user buying the device would complain that whilst it may have a physical mic it had no functional mic.

This is not an accident, it is a deliberate omission, for a specific and rational reason.

I suspect the extinction rebellion, but the government will not want the to have the publicity so perhaps they will gag the press or put out a fake story, either way, we will probably not know.

This is just to allow business to profit from people who are addicted to nicotine, smoking in the workplace is banned, allowing people to vape, will just encourage people to vape instead of quit.

Vapers are still drug addicts, they are still profit centres just for a different industry. The is as much evidence for the safety of vaping as there was for the safety of tobacco when it was first introduced.

Maybe they don't care if it is noisy out of cities because few people live there, it is about the relative sound of it in a city with lots of background noise that will determine if it is politically tolerable.
