Before Chrome FF was top dawg and even though it was slowly getting worse it didn't matter because it was still light years ahead of IE (and perhaps cos it had google's backing?). People are saying it looks like chrome but 57 is markedly different and better visually (and has an option for compact layout which is nice, since v3 I always liked that I can increase the viewable webpage space though various tweaks and extensions). And looks more consistent on mac and windows now too (as one is a work PC...).
I've never been lucky to have to commute on the Tube (Northern Rail however...), I don't understand why people rush for the in the tube when there's a next one in 2-3 minutes (in the places I've seen this)? I'd lose my shit and dash for a rail service but the next one will be in 30 minutes and if I miss it I /will/ be late (plot twist: I'm late anyway because they'd get delayed or the autumn leaves are the wrong kind of slippery)
No way! Didn't realise el reg runs on Perl. Been on it for years and still use it daily. I hate myself not the language. And no wonder people find it intimidating and quickly send me some example snippet that doesn't even have use strict;.. Yes TIMTOWTDI but if you do the same things the same way across a project that's all right, can solve a system side problem way faster than my PHP colleague (bless him) wether it's to do with a DB or files or network/snmp.
And by the way, looking at ruby loops or ternary operators and such I don't understand why people consider Ruby closer to natural language. I guess haters gonna hate
Do they have some ISO audits/certifications?
Is the weak security inherited from acquired businesses?
How, in today's internet where there's constant background noise of malicious scanning for vulnerabilities by bots and haxxors, do these things come to light now? Or they choose not to screw with big corporations unless they can get juicy private data?
Will this be one of the last peaceful Government vs Corporations battles, ultimately using humans as ammunition?
Been reading too much Richard Morgan perhaps.
The inevitable Uber PR leanings though.. scary and all those mongs signing the petition.. Sure TfL could be more easily seen as the conventional bad guy but that's mainly due to Uber's campaign.
Amen.
Programming sucks, enjoy your burn out in the late 20s.. (*scans through the gray hairs on my colleagues noggins*) Only interesting thing I could imagine being some kind of academic data analysis related job and that wont be easy to find.
And those salaries numbers are useless unless they say the 'where'. Game dev in Hull you might be on <=30k but live like a king.
There are Androids with 10000mAh but you'll be sewing your pockets back every week, that stuff is heavy. 6000 with current tech is also as big as a fat phone right now..
On the other hand I can get 3 days easy with my OPO 5, it's thinner than iPhones and also aluminium body. (H/P jack at the bottom too, finally, as it's a lot more natural imo having your phone downwards in your pocket as the direction of your your palm is..). If I don't bother charging it 10 100% I can charge her to 75% in about 15-20 min and last nearly 2 days.
Why don't they use some Russian or Ukranian registrar there are plenty of neo-nazi sympathizers over there (not to mention all the alt-right trolling factories are based predominately there too). It will be a fitting metaphor for the subtle online dismantling of western left-ish values by vocal American *-right and Russian/Kremlin professional trolls.
Cognitive dissonance is strong with those types (referring to regional history)..
"These tests show CovertBand can track walking subjects with a mean tracking error of 18cm and subjects moving at a fixed position with an accuracy of 8cm at up to 6m in line-of-sight and 3m through barriers,"
Precise enough so the H-K drone can snipe you through the roof/walls without visual contact. Impressive
Yeah for Windows the ripped off Chrome design it's somehow considerably uglier (I use FF on a mac as well but I guess I'm desensitized into liking slate gray monotonous a-functional design on the apples hence not resorting to the theme restorer..)
I'm sure they'll update the extensions to this new format... eventually? I 'member when they switched to the new versioning we could just change some string in the extension code to make it 'compatible' again.. I doubt this will be that simple though
Whatever partnership they do with local providers it's always throttled but more skillfully than O2, for example they figure out when you stream something and throttle that more aggressively than loading pages, sometimes you can barely stream 128kbps internet radio. I've seen that in NL, DE, BG, ES, AT
When I first moved to the UK I found it strange how you have all those bare copper tubes going in and out of the houses... And of course one day that cold winter a couple years ago our water froze and I had to crawl following said pipes with a hair dryer or the kettle, pointless exercise, just had to weather to let up..
These artists?! Your problem is they all have vocals, can't work with vocals. Can't work near the kitchen breakout area in the open plan office either. Some people left for another office now there's more open space fewer desks: Great! Nope, PMs and C*O come stroll around loudly talking on their mobiles in the empty area now. Someone back in accounts clearly can't see their desk phone flashing in their face so the ringtone volume is turned to 11.. The IT tech support guys, bless them, get bored and start playing music on some Sonos, which I personally find as the most anti-social thing you can do in an open plan office (and yes generic crap music from in the survey). Not to mention some of the girls and guys I can hear shouting to each other across the entire office asking questions. Why are people so afraid of silence? I like to play music (usually to block all the above (and yes usually disgusting (to some people) military grade jungle or hardcore or acid tekno with a K) but I use earphones!!! I don't blast it to everyone). Nothing beats silence.
Do I sound upset?
that is horrifically bad English, so it's pretty obvious the author is not a native speaker
One does not imply the other, but the latter definitely should ring alarm bells. I've seen some horrific English from my British colleagues, from customers as well, makes me cringe every time.
About the guy's credibility, and the other reg article https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/06/07/nsa_leaker_bust_gets_weirder_senator_claims_hacking_is_wider_than_leak_revealed/ this is all to overload you with information so you don't know what is true and what isn't. I suppose back in th'day they can just conceal such stuff because there wasn't an Internet, now they've just adapted to leverage it to achieve the same secrecy through mass confusion so that "people" stop caring or get entrenched in their own echo chambers.
