Re: New Column Width

I don't think anybody has a complaint about cleaning up the right side, but the proportions are all wrong.

On my browser a full screen window is 1519 pixels wide. The actual article only uses 520px... or 34% of my window. I'm sorry Drewc, but it looks daft.

Thirded. Looks rather bizzare now on high DPI screens, content is probably less than 45% of the browser width.

No middle ground, no compromise: VMware blocks Cisco's SDN play

Sorry Trevor, but you've missed a big piece of the ACI system here. ACI can make use of and control the VMware Distributed Switch, it's not just limited to hosts with the 1000V installed.

It's true that VMware's recent change in policy on third-party switches means that the 1000V itself will likely be killed off, but the number of actual customers paying Cisco for that is already negligible (after Cisco made the basic license free-to-use a couple of years ago) so the effect is relatively minimal.

Airplane bomb fears spark America's laptop, tablet carry-on ban

Yeah, stowed in gurt-big ruggedised equipment cases which are immune to careless baggage handlers. And, heavily insured under commercial policies I would guess as well.

This.

Although ironically I have also witnessed BBC camera crews storing the camera bodies overhead on two separate long-haul trips.

Travel insurance will cover loss and damage to luggage, and any half-decent policy won't have any limits on what is covered in terms of objects (i.e. tech is OK) , only a value.

I'd suggest you review the fine print of your travel insurance, a good majority of domestic policies typically only go up to £1500 - and they'll likely exclude the amount already paid out by the airline.
