might be a great idea over there
but if we started that trend here, people would be deliberately creating potholes so they can get their phallus painting done and demand more attention.

Congresscritters with a D tattoed on their ample arses, demand a thing. then after their majority passes it but a R branded arse sits in the Big Chair, within a few years, see the Ds ranting about how evil Rs are backdooring their software bcuz the R allowed the Ds what they demanded.
Reverse letters when appropriate.
The ones that do a "one cheek sneak" to break wind with the appropriate arse tattoo letter, are the worst as they blame when they don't get what they want and blame when they do, all by simply shifting to one side or the other.
Wut, you think political bloviation comes out their MOUTH?
but ignored similar complaints made, say from here in California where such sites were popping up and down with near regularity, for years. Law enforcement having convenient information on incidents that occurred and ended within an hour or so, but their evidence somehow started from right before the incident started to occur? as we're to believe that Law Enforcement was aware, mobilized, and got permission to deploy based on some sort of "warnings" so they had intel from the moments first shots were fired?
Or Occam's Razor, sharply applied-Stingray was ALREADY in place, ALREADY running 24/7 and just needed to go back thru the records to get what was needed?
Methinks they're just mad that its not "their guy" doing the snooping on congressional misbehavior. They'll have no trouble with it and more surveillance when "their guy" is back in power. Only "justice" in DC is more like "Just Us".
so an Elected Government Official (most states if not all, Comptroller is an elected position), as part of a 4 year term, can use government employee money (very little if any of which is his own, or will affect him financially if its lost due to errors in his judgement or "bad luck"), to attempt to control a Private Sector company (by trying to use "big investor level powers" to change leadership), outside of any legal actions or law enforcement mandate?
isn't there some sort of near-derogatory term for that sort of government/business relationship?
without significantly chemically modifying one's sensory interpretation AND also causing their judgement to be significantly impaired or erratic, the movie does not warrant repeat views within any short timeframe.
One can pretend that long extended shots without even much background change is "art" and therefore one must like it or be labelled somehow inferior, but reality is, if there is a long shot, there are things that are to be picked up during that shot, many elements to absorb, changes happening during the shot, etc.
when nothing changes, nothing happens, it's essentially a video of a still painting, that's "dead air". Everything else, is Pretense.
Now if your synapses are totally misfiring on a chemical brew that makes Io look inert, your sense of time, color, and even reason affected to the point where your subjective reality fails to match objective reality at all, a movie "seen" or "remembered" in that context, is not what the unmedicated experience.
Much in the same way a movie taken from a narrow height has no emotional effect on someone who loves heights.
when the state of California pretty much mandated Oracle systems for all state services, and Oracle's leadership and "definitely not conservative nor GOP" governor Davis was all about praising their leadership and technical abilities? remember all the vitriol and complaints about cronyism and "follow the campaign donations" there were?
Oh yeah, me too. Almost none at all.
But replace the D with an R, nothing else changing, and suddenly it's the Crony Apocalypse.
The Reg needs less "Bay Area Bubble" ideological cheerleader writers. We read British sites because we're trying to avoid the "our team is perfect and yours is satan" crap American media spews.
take an example from the BOFH, who, like cattle prods and lorries with carpet rolls, cares nothing about your politics.
it IS hazardous waste, the hard core processing requiring some sort of Snow Crash type RTG generator to power it, a la "Reason".
don't use without the provided lead apron, and make sure to thoroughly use the NBC decontamination facilities at your local Army base before touching food, or any living creatures.
expensive car company finds in its non transparent data collection systems, information that of course totally exonerates it from any responsibility.
If it weren't Tesla, Darling of the California Tech Community, no one would even give their self-defense a moments notice before tearing it apart.
time for an Asylum Pictures "homage" to The Andromeda Strain!
some "found footage" washes up on shore, shows "what really happened" and why the Chinese deliberately brought the station down...
..and what survived the crash!
Feel free to donate any royalty checks in my name to any future LOHAN project reboot :)
then it won't matter. tell people heroin or tobacco is bad for them but they do it anyway
the FB faithful will not be swayed. Just as Snowden revelations didn't do d*ck to get people to understand that putting a D instead of an R on the presidential ticket means you're getting the same crap but in a better advertised bag.
I read something about them not too long ago. Incremental improvements and continued hard work towards a flight ready motor, Pretty sure they've demonstrated the most innovative bits within the last year or so and are working to integrate their cryo stage into the somewhat standard-ish turbojet stack
the same sort of boring but necessary work to truly innovate which doesn't get as much press attention anymore unless it blows up or benefits someone politically to crow about.
We won't hear any big positive press until they fly, I fear.
if you see what looks like a black inflatable greenhousy bag over a large concrete rectangle, you're seeing a farmer that's capturing methane to run generators to power his stuff.
been a thing for years. Y'all city slickers need ta get out more, I reckon! *spit* *chews on straw*
if she contributed significant political money, which most famous start-ups do around here in order to hopefully score some big government pork contracts, she'll be allowed to fade into obscurity. Especially if she "reinvests" her 750m into political contributions. Talk of jail time will eventually fade away and nothing served in the Gray Bar Hotel even if they do slap some probation or "house arrest" on.
Unless some local and state pols lost a lot of money on her company. thats the only chance the state will actually prosecute someone of wealth.
nice to see the DMV like the rest of California is for sale to the highest politically-correct bidder.
Do we know Waymo's numbers are correct, seeing the recent el Reg kefluffle about Google skeeving its reports to the SEC?
Does the "remote" need to be demonstrated as mission critical reliable? or can a "4g cell link" be "good enough" to put any control interruptions into the telecom's "fault" if control is delayed? Will there be multiple remote operators monitoring each vehicle while it's out on the streets?
Lets find out who greased whos palms in Sacramento. And personally hold them responsible when the first "accident" occurs. Tho I suspect they'll be invisible to us on the streets, but we can probably figure them out by which execs refuse to be on the streets anywhere near these cars when their autonomous (except for a well staged photo op).
Notice that none of these robo car companies use their own product for even their security patrols - which if one has a simple controlled route to patrol, should be a low hanging fruit. But no Model X's with better cameras patrol NUMMI at night.
is people who believe WTC was "an inside job" with staged explosives, planned takeovers and a massive coverup, say that having an American version of the Blue Helmet Guy is impossible. People who make a fortune in new contributions and off of improved coverage due to anti gun rants after every massacre, surely wouldn't ever do anything nasty to make more and more money and influence? But those "other guys" will secretly start whole wars and blow up buildings to do the same?
Either both or none. Political party affiliation doesn't guarantee some sort of nobility and superior ethics. Often the louder a party virtue signals, the worse they truly are.
mobile is for consumption.
desktop is for production.
as the worldwide Idiocracy grows and more people need to watch more slideshows on their social media platform to find out what to be Outraged Next about, naughty selfies from nigerian scammers, and an app to figure out what is the politically correct way to hang the bog roll (roll from the front, natch), of course there will be a higher percentage of sales of "consume" devices.
Those who actually produce, not simply modify someone else's work, still need large screen real estate, the ability to handle lots of processes at once, multiple input and storage options, severe number crunching power, and the ability to modify how their system functions.
Which you're not gonna do while wrapped in a hoodie, gaze down, ears blocked by headphones, thumbing away whilst standing on the tube getting to your Next Big Startup job.
a technological reason to tell the youth to "turn that sh*te down!"
I wonder how long until "pirated" audio or video tracks start "phoning home"?
Phishing with music files "traded" amongst associates?
with some of the craptacular techno modified stuff out there, would one ever know till it was too late?
like Uber, you run an "app" that "disrupts" by having everyone else provide the services and take the risks while skimming off the top, you get to "own" the problems caused by those "providers".
Seems the terms "disruptive" and "exploitative" mean the same thing in "App" and "Startup" land
are you really doing anything "better" for your company, your customers both internal and external? Or did you simply give more MBA's stuff to do?
you can redesign a shovel every month but aside from advertising something new in Tacticool Gear Monthly, you and the other shovel manufacturers haven't really changed how well anyone digs.
so think about it. If you WERE suicidal, and you KNOW youve got some creepy system "looking" for you, what do you do?
you STOP using that system. You censor yourself. you WITHDRAW.
even the belief such a system is in place will keep those most likely to actually kill themselves (as opposed to attention whores and drama queens and politics driven fearmongers) will NOT want some system interfering.
The ones we need to reach the most, will not be there to reach. that last link to the outside world they may have maintained, will be self-cut.
Tho maybe FB is looking more for potential people who will be LEAVING FB. Ive heard deleting accounts called "facebook suicide" a bunch of times. When I killed my first account, I had people I knew in meatspace get all "concerned" like I'd already tried "down the road not across the street".
And that is really creepy. Cutting oneself from an ad spam political/emotional manipulation machine is considered BAD in today's society? Yikes.
anyone able to afford a Tesla spends more than 7.5K on breakfasts and lattes on their work commute in a year or two. Pretending that amount caused serious problems and not the numerous other difficulties, both technical and personnel, is a real stretch bordering on partisan pandering.
when you're laying out over $60K USD on a *secondary* car, when your mortgage is well over a half million, and your annual vacations are overseas and over a week long, you don't stop a big purchase because of a sale ending-instead your buy SOONER.
So if there were really a belief that subsidy cuts were happening, people wanting a Tesla would run out and buy earlier, driving sales and value up. If they're not, its because they didn't really want a Tesla anyway and are looking for an excuse to buy something else. If that's the case, the problem is a lot deeper and 100% a Tesla corporate problem.
so now that there IS a Leaf and others, why continue the subsidies?
the "goal" is completed. Everything after the Model S is merely transferring money without generating any significant engineering. Paying for what is essentially "marketing" or "changing driver's minds about what an EV is" could be done a lot cheaper by hiring ad agencies instead of helping the wealthiest Silicon Valley residents get a 100K car for 80K.
only saw my first Model 3 "in the wild" yesterday.
Took almost that long from "we're in full production" until I saw a Model X on the road or on the lot too.
Or seeing any loading up on trucks to ship out.
What's that giant gridwork of pipes they're building? it looks more like a chemical processing plant than construction or office space framwork
so why the insistence on recharging electrics at home? a large battery/supercap bank on a ubiquitous corner "filling station" right along major electrical supply lines would allow more efficient charging and no worries about datasets and potentially millions of homes needing to update charging technology whenever standards change. No worries about intrusive systems to figure out "which power is used for the car so it can be taxed separately" schemes.
have you actually HEARD the P180? it is the loudest (and has very unique sonic signature) twin turboprop Ive ever witnessed coming in our out of SJ Mineta. Even the (also twin turboprop) Rutan Starship is quieter by a noticeable amount. Only seen that one twice.
turboshaft engines are light. electric motors can be close. But batteries still weigh more than kerosene. which means less cargo, higher wing loading, etc. Engineering challenges mostly but the biggest challenge is the bean counting. Not sure what technology is in the current or near state of the art that'll fix that. :(
