I just feel lately that Microsoft is becoming more and more irrelevant.
Microsoft has always been a "Me too" company, but lately it seems like they can't even do that right.
Linux IS ready for my mother.
Android is beginning to take off.
Apple computers are increasing market share.
Love it or hate it, the iPad is hugely successful.
Love it or hate it, the iPhone is hugely successful.
So Microsoft is trying to compete against all of that simply does nothing.
Don't piss off the Germans. I seem to recall they can get nasty if you piss them off. I forget the details, but I seem to remember them being at the center is a really big war or two.

You know it HAD to be the hand grenade.
I hear this tired complaint the Firefox is to slow every time there is an article about FF.
I have used every version since about 0.8 and while there have been a few dogs in there, for the most part those version have been fixed and replaced within days.
So I can only conclude that the ones complaining are all just a bunch of freaking whiners.
It is good to know I should not update to 10.6.2.
But what has Apple really done? They chose to not include support for a processor that they do not use in their hardware.
While I love my "HackBook Mini" as I call it. I have to admit the Atom CPU is not really powerful enough to give a proper showing of what Snow Leopard is capable of doing. As a low power portable machine it is fantastic for use on the train. But even a fanboy like me will admit it is not suited for use as a replacement for a REAL Mac.
First forward the CEO's private email to ALL, you know, the mail from his mistress.
Then when you are fixing it, let slip that it was caused by a virus that got in through an unpatched windows bug, and out of date virus software.
Bonus points if you can get the CEO to OK overtime for you and a few mates to correct the problem.
This is not the first time Apple has helped to bring something new into use.
Think of USB. Sure it existed before Apple decided to use it in their iMacs for Keyboard and mouse, but I had never seen anything that used it. Apple adopts USB as its only external interface and within a year I am seeing Keyboards, Mice, Printers, Scanners, and even some painfully slow USB hard drives.

Of course it does. My mother knows nothing about cars, and about once a year something goes wrong with her car. Guess what, she has to pay someone to fix it. So if something goes wrong with her computer why shouldn't she be forced to pay someone to fix it.
I would consider getting this if it were 2 -3 Dollars. But not $13. This is one of those things that is mildly entertaining for an hour or so. Then you change it back to something useful.
Now a Lisa Simpson vioce might be useful. I bet that shrill voice would cut right through road noise.

I have heard this argument more times than my 32 bit computer can count.
It just doesn't ring true in my experience. I have wasted more time trying to find drivers for Windows. Rebooting for no good reason in Windows.
Now I admit that if you have the latest and best hardware Linux drivers can be difficult. But if you are a cheep bastard, like me, and tend to buy last years hot products, and save a stack of cash. Linux is a dream. Most of the time, just install and let the installer worry about what hardware you have.
I hate the Haynes manuals! They always seem to assume that you know some part of the procedure that I just don't know. That and they usually cover such a broad range of associated cars that they border on useless.
Now if Chiltons or Bentley Publishers put it out I would fly directly to the shop to pick up a copy.
