Well, in Jersey we are mostly all now benefiting from FTTP, with the basic plan at 250Mb/50Mb (As of today when it was upgraded!), or 1Gb/100Mb. And depending on your ISP, this is un-throttled and unlimited.

You're doing it wrong then. I just did a test through speedtest.net from my JT 1GB Service to a Maidenhead host, and got 976Mb down, and 91.2 up.

It's a 2-way street. Those of us in the Channel Islands get charged extortionate amounts to call the UK, and even worse to roam there!
