I do like how all the haters keep suggesting everyone ditch Windows and move to Linux. If that were to happen then all the bad guys would do the same and Linux would become the infection riddled beast while Windows was left alone to be clean and care-free.
Be careful what you wish for little penguins. Windows is only as dirty as it is because of it's popularity!

The point the posters before were making is that with braodband and cheaper hardware any old TV will be able to display everything, regardless of format.

Southern Rail are a terribly run operation, made all the more galling by the millions of pounds their shareholders take from Government coffers.
More taxpayer money is spent funding 'privately' run railways now than it ever was when nationally owned. We could re-nationalise, spend the same amount of money but return the profits to the treasury and have the same level of service we currently have.

Ah, but you aren't expected to remember them anymore. Smartphone phonebooks remember telephone numbers and all other contact details. Browsers on all devices remember usernames and passwords. We aren't even asked to remember URLs for companies anymore - just 'search for xyz'.

How so? it makes no difference how a bank interracts with it's customers, the data held will be the same.

So if the Police had a warrant to enter your house and read post you have received from a friend of a friend (because they suspect that friend of a friend of committing a crime - you are as clean as a whistle) you would be happy for them to do it while you were out and without your knowledge.

God I hope this doesn't happen. Veeam is bloody brilliant. I don't pretend to undestand all that it does. All I know is that when I need something back I can go to the server team and they can literally get me back anything from a single file to an entire server in a matter of minutes from 5 minutes ago to hours, days, weeks months.
We use HP hardware for hosts but that's as far as it goes. They seem to be one of those monolithic companies that things like Veeam easily get lost in.

Or, the fingerprint scanner is in the correct location. I have a Nexus 5X with the fingerprint scanner on the back. When you use it becomes apparent that it is the obviouc place to have it. Pick the phone up and unlock it in one motion. Where the S7 has it means holding in an unnatural way which leads to an increased chance of dropping and breaking.
It's not an investment though. It's buying a product like any other purchase. The only difference is that you are buying the product before it's been made, knowing that your money will pay for the manufacture.
Crowdfunding is the wrong term really.

I guess the idea is that you only really have one file that lives in Dropbox or somewhere - you don't 'sync' the file as such.
But then you open a whole other can of security worms - picking a secure cloud storage platform that you trust. I certainly wouldn't trust Dropbox with anything more than important than cat pictures!
I think this story shows how good LastPass actually is. They accepted the fault and worked with the guy to fix it then admitted the problem. How many companies do we see burying their head in the sand when these problems are found? Microsoft - I'm looking at you!
As a first attempt this sounds quite useful. You've asked it what your day is like, it's told you what's in your calendar, what the weather is like and what your commute is like and then it adds in other things that you may be interested in doing today but hadn't otherwise thought of.
It probably needs to be more tailored to the user but if you visit the cinema reguarly (and if you have a default setup Android phone then Google knows everywhere you visit) then this could good.
Is this going to be usable anywhere other than a flat surface? The benefit of a design like the Nokia N900 is that you can stand up and use it on the move. This just looks like a minature laptop.
There is no doubt that the old Psions were great for their time - personally I struggle to find a use case for this now.

All I see here is gimmickery. What's the odds that within 12 months this model will have been replaced and none of the add-ons will work on the new model? If there was some gaurantee that these would be forwards compatible with the next two or three or four iterations of the phone then I might be tempted. Otherwise I'm sticking with my standard smartphone.
And whats with still using micro-USB? Get with the times granddad, USB-C is where it's at!

I'm not sure about app/web-site/phone designers being oblivious to the mobile data problems. My bigger concern is that the mobile data problems everyone seems to have are intentionally being put in place by the networks. My 3G used to be great, browsing was fast and easy - until 4G came along. Then the networks seemed to purposefully degrade the 3G network, forcing people to upgrade (devices and contracts) and use the 4G network. Only the 4G network is crap, to describe it as patchy would be generous. I live and work in London and I don't have a 4G connection more than I do and the same goes for my friends and colleagues - on all flavours of device/OS/network.
The mobile phone networks are taking us all for a ride.

I always used to use Opera, until it went all shitty then I moved to Chrome. I never liked Firefox, I always thought it was bloated and slow (especially compared to old Opera). But then I had enough of Chrome's flakiness and thought I would give Firefox another go and I love it. I have Adblock Plus and Ghostery running and it is so smooth. A nice simple interface. I don't understand all the people using CTR, why? All I want to see in my browser is an address bar and tabs. Anything else is taking real estate away from displaying the webpage. All I want it to do is open and be ready to use in a timely manner and render webpages quickly and correctly.
Am I missing something here? A company promoting it's own product before it's competitors? And? Do people expect them to promote comptetitors products over their own?
If Streetmap wanted to be top of the search results they should have down two things. One, keep up with the times, even Apple and Here maps are better than Streetmap these days. Two, build their own search engine and put themselves at the top of the results for everything.

Fer Chrissakes no! Dropbox is most definitely not for sensitive data! Dropbox hold your data in the US. The US Goverment agencies have access to the data in Dropbox. Ergo, it is NOT secure!

They talk about this being in the hardware but then describe software. And isn't the EliteBook aimed at the Enterprise? Our machines never see the OS install they come with, out the box and booted to PXE immediately for the corporate image to be installed.
Think most are going to be more interested in seeing a download for this rather than having it baked in.
I can see the day when "Self Driving Cars" are common place around towns and on motorways, but it will be a very, very long time before they'll be able to cope with the country A/B roads around here (Somerset/Dorset/Devon).
True enough, only when the only cars on the road are autonomous and they all know each others whereabouts. This is where I think Tesla's idea will be best for the short-term - autnomous but the driver still has to remain alert and with hands on wheel and in the case of cruising around bends on country lanes, foot hovering over brake!

That is true but if the "colour their skin is or which god they do or don't believe in" is the reason behind the crime then it has to be considered. If we don't understand why people commit crime then we can never hope to prevent it in the future.

First of all there is the cost aspect - they are not seen as providing good value for money. And then there is the exclusives issue. If you want to legally watch Game Of Thrones when it is released (to avoid spoilers) then you must subscribe to Sky and only Sky, Virgin, BT, Talk Talk, no one else has the Sky Atlantic channel).
