BT pushes ahead with plans to switch off telephone network

The end of Fax and some NHS services

Fax effectively drives many worthwhile services across the NHS. Whether it should or not is a sensible question, but the systems work. (unlike some implemented by BT as part of NPfIT)

I understand that Fax & VoIP are generally incompatible - so is this a suicide pact by senior BT execs who no longer NHS treatment? - just please don't take the rest of us with you!

FCC kills plan to allow phone calls on planes – good idea or terrible?

So Airline phones to be banned too?????

Why just cell phones - this logic would ban all phones - including the premium priced calls made with airline phones. Strange that this was omitted from "his" opinion, perhaps the airlines left this off his instructions, funny oversight, I wonder why??

He obviously attended the United Airlines charm school - where passengers are treated less well than Fedex or DHL parcels!

In unrelated news - Turkeys welcome Christmas

PO welcome the action...... yes, I like it when the police accuse me of speeding too, as it gives me a chance to demonstrate either a) how legal I am b) that my car goes very fast.

So no appeal, and hanging for the perps at the PO - all at taxpayers' expense.

Gotta love the courts!

Brexit Contractors

In this environment (IR35) where does HMG expect to get its 30,000 new people to work on the 500 projects (not all IT people of course, but IR35 involved) - from Europe perhaps????

Thank goodness we live in a country where the Government understands the requirements of a digital economy - and as it's based on binary, two digits apparently!

Law helps - but is it really necessary?

I enjoy asking them to come round and not being there! Antisocial behaviour seems an appropriate response and rather destroys the economics of the exercise. The only reason people make these calls is because they work - the perpetrators aren't a charity dedicated to annoying people. Oh, and I usually recommend my hot-prospect MP's parliamentary and constituency office numbers too! If we all treated this behaviour with the disrespect it deserves, it would stop overnight - as soon as the perps ran out of money.

I accept that sometimes law is necessary, but sometimes appropriate mass behaviour is much cheaper and as effective.
