Governator revives anti-violent video game crusade

Chris

@ Darling Petunia

I've been playing violent video games and watching violent movies for as long as I can remember. Yet I've rarely had any violent encounters - once or twice to defend myself but that's it. Some people are just bad, they're either born that way or made that way by a poor upbringing.

For you, video games appear to provide an easy way to explain away violent behaviour. I disagree - a violent person would still be violent, even if they'd never seen a violent game or movie.

Humans have been hurting eachother for millennia - it's terrible but that's life.

IR35 tax is a huge failure

Chris
Unhappy

Careful what you wish for!

The current situation doesn't cause a problem for most people. There's a tiny chance that you will get investigated, and even tinier that you'll get caught out by it. It would be nice if the government eradicated this tax without replacing it... but Labour will probably just make things worse. They don't care about our votes, they've been ignoring vast swathes of the public for a long time.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous you sound? I'm guessing that you do, which is why you're posting anonymously. The man took his punishment, and is now a productive member of society. Or perhaps you think that any crime must be punished for life, no matter how small?

Brits 'a bunch of yellow bastards', says irate Yank

Chris

@ Suicide

Finland has a higher ratio of gun owners because of the mandatory national service, all male finns are required know how to operate weapons in service of their country. Unlike America, Finland actually WAS invaded by the russians.

The high finnish suicide rate could more sensibly be attributed to the 23-hour darkness they suffer in midwinter. Comparing Finns to redneck americans makes you look uninformed. Suggesting it'd be beneficial for them all to commit suicide makes you look like a complete arsehole.

I read a while back that a surprising number of people survive self-inflicted head wounds, apparently the bullets can be glance along the curvature of the skull or something. I guess in some cases there just isn't enough grey matter to damage, as in Mr Ayala's case.

Chris

Don't make laugh

Most of the "Architects" that I've come across have been charlatans, hiding their total lack of technical knowledge behind a smokescreen of bullshit and Powerpoint slides.

Or maybe I've just not had the good fortune of working aside an IT Architect who actually knows what they are talking about?

Snipers - Cowardly assassins, or surgical soldiers?

Chris
Happy

Snipers rule.

I don't think snipers are cowardly at all. They often have to make their way into very dangerous situations with no back up, and they serve an extremely valuable function.

As for the "LIFE IS PRECIOUS OMFG" person - a small number of sniper kills on high ranking enemy commanders can prevent a great many more deaths. Lewis did state this in the article, but I guess you'd already made up your mind to rant long before reaching that part.

Anyway I'm more of an AWP man myself. In source of course!
