This does mean that they can throw more "conditions" at the problem using lab automation as the crystal assessment will be much faster.

EPFL has one in one of their buildings that's used for seating!
They also have some other Cray and other HPC goodness in the Musée Bolo which is free to enter and worth a trip if you're in the area.
We had someone attempt to get their own smartphones on the network by plugging in a D-link SoHo router which also started generously handing out IP addresses. The corporate DNS servers (QIP?) then stopped doling out IP addresses for that subnet meaning a number of the laboratories went down.
We never found out who did it, but you'd expect scientists to know better -->

I had one in an IBM T20. It was unfeasibly slow, I'd start the boot process and head over to the canteen to buy a coffee instead of waiting for it...
The next machine work gave me was a Dell D620 with a Core 2 Duo, it felt soooo fast!
But it still happens – and is so commonplace, the biz's HR department has a set of procedures for dealing with such situations.
Surely any organisation the size of Intel would have procedures for this kind of thing*. It'd be much worse to invent policy on the hoof.
*My employer does, you can even enter employee relationships into a system alongside declaring other things like gifts from vendors, interests in other businesses etc.

Cray is marketing the L300F to the leadership class of supercomputing environments. With its performance numbers, it wouldn't stand much chance in business data centres compared to NVMe drive arrays and NVMe-oF-accessed arrays.
Modern large HPC shops have many PB of disc in use; the cost of migrating that to NVMe would presumably be massive.
A UK customer found E8’s storage, used with Spectrum Scale (GPFS), enabled it to accelerate its genomics processing 100X, from 10 hours per genome to 10 genomes per hour. The E8 array was used as a fast storage tier and scratch space.
An 100X increase in throughput sounds too good to be true. Are there any details on what they actually did? I checked E8's website, but nothing leapt out.
