Some of the online bike retailers have a fairly poor reputation for service. Another one even messed up my order and threatened me with legal action!
When I cracked the seat / top tube junction on my bike I emailed the dealer at 21.30 and I got an email at about 9.30 the next morning telling me that a replacement had been ordered. He even lent me a bike to go on a trip to the Alps with so I wouldn't miss out.

I used to use Be too, they were great.
I'm on the receiving end of another Liberty Global company's shenanigans at the moment, my TV box is dead and they won't give me another without signing up to a new deal which is more expensive and with a minimum term. It is cheaper for me to keep the dead box and subscribe to a TVoIP service than take the other deal...

Unceremoniously ditching the external SCSI bus and the Apple Desktop Bus meant that anyone already invested in the system had to buy new peripherals (they couldn't bring the keyboard from their old Mac with them),
Looks at a pile of now unloved "Thunderbolt" adaptors....
and with Windows's USB stack being somewhat fragile at that point (from what I remember) the market for third-party USB peripherals was quite small.
IIRC only the home Win9* had USB support to some extent at that point and Win2k was the first version of the NT family to support it.

SGI was happy enough to sell one to somebody playing with drugs if they wanted to buy one, but those machines were built for CGI, and the real market cared what it looked like.But as I recall, Merck was mostly using blue & white G3s back then.
I suspect in the computational chemistry & structural biology groups it would have been all SGI back then.

For those of a Linux persuasion, it works as expected.
I don't actually know if that means it works or doesn't. Although things have got a lot better, there is still an annoying amount of hardware out there that isn't supported or doesn't work on Linux.
I speak an HPC guy and former Linux admin and I've failed to get Linux running on a few desktops over the years before I get downvoted to hell :)

But the most important factor brought up by that video, the most relevant in regards to InkScape and what is constantly dismissed however much I try to remind them, is INTEGRATION.When you [buy] the Adobe suite you get an integrated solution system, one that not only tries to retain a similar look and feel to one another but also dynamically links apps together, PLUS allows easy collaboration between designers in different locations.
Last time I tried to edit a file in Lightroom "Classic" in Photoshop, LR dumped the file to a TIFF on my harddisc which PS then opened...

Being able to entertain ourselves whilst cooped up in our homes for a month or so will lessen the impact of this on mental health.
A few years ago I was housebound for a while due to injury and hated the isolation and boredom; I took steps to lower the effects of this.

Re: The time has finally come!
One reason I'm typing this on a Mac is that it's a *NIX with a native port of MS Office.
The hardware on this MBP is (mostly*) lovely, but it's an expensive way for for my employer to get the above. They could decide to give us WSL2/Win10 and give us the Corporate Standard laptop and save a chunk on hardware costs.
* So far the keyboard is still working!
