There are already enough idiots on their mobiles on the road and I do not see the car manufacturers move to touch screens reducing that.
I wonder how many people have been killed by drivers distracted by touchscreens compared to if they'd had the usual switches and knobs in their car?
As an experiment I let my insurer see some overview stats from my Garmin as they offered a discount for exercise. They were really dumb and only looked at steps, I'm someone who cycles a three figure number of KM each week so only walks a few thousand steps each day. I cancelled it pretty quickly...
So with Microsoft's next OS, Windows NT, that's what it did. It ended up eventually dominating the industry because it aimed at future hardware: it was designed to run on the i860, specifically the Dazzle motherboard, then the MIPS R3000, as well as x86 machines.

When I worked in the UK we had someone do this so they "could get Wifi for their phone"; it took out parts of a research building for an entire day.
An interesting side effect of this was so we could see what what a balls up the outsourced networking provider had made of the separation between office and lab subnets...
A friend with psychiatric problems turned up at hospital in an episode and they wrote in her records that she had been drinking heavily and was probably drunk. She's teetotal because alcohol and her medication combine really badly. She complained and they refused to remove the record just add a note to say it might be incorrect.
She struggles to get insurance, so having this kind of bollocks in her medical records makes life even harder. And someone in the area probably has her information in...

A few years ago I built myself a PC. As my parents had just bought a Windows PC with Windows 8.0 on it so I put that on instead of Windows 7 - I guess that's a form of child abuse...
At some point I need to tell them that the PC (now on Win10) needs to be replaced due to MS ending its support next year - this will no doubt mean I'll be "working" over Christmas :)
