We'll most likely pick France or GermanyMe, I'd go for Ireland. Cheap, an economy more likely to succeed than strike-ridden France, and a much nicer place to work than Germany.
Ireland offers what Britain did up until recently: EU membership, native English speaking, a timezone that kind of works for the America and Asia.
In other news, Rolls-Royce announced this morning it is shedding 4,600 jobs. The company has been struggling with faults in its Trent 1000 engines, which power certain models of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

That’s the case for most users, but I have genetic analyses that are highly parallel, so more cores scales better than more clock speed.
I'm not familiar with your situation, but why don't you run on a cluster? If you're doing something like sequence alignment to a genome then it's pretty easy to scale the number of jobs up to the number of files or file pairs (for PE reads).
Expect bad service-quality from any hospital, public-administration that run on SAP, their employees have serious troubles inputting your data.
I recently had problems after buying something from a company, their system had got confused about currencies, forgot about exchange rates somewhere and had taken too little money from my credit card. The company chased me for the remainder and I was less than pleased about their cockup. The very helpful support man told me that since they'd migrated to SAP two years ago they'd had loads of problems like the one I had...

You mean Intel didn't release a significantly faster desktop chip for years, but when AMD Rizen from the grave Intel managed to suddenly up the core count. :)
That would still make either of the two machines funnier than any british sitcom that has been made in the past 10 years.

We used to have McAfee on our Uni NT4 machines, it used to slow the PCs down so much that most people just disabled it (I have no idea how/why this was possible).
We need a John Mcafee icon, ideally one from his uninstall video with the guns, girls and "bath salts" (NSFW).
