Microsoft's most popular SQL Server product of all time runs on Linux

Microsoft was regularly using Unix by 1982...

I have copies of their news postings on Usenet from that time. That’s probably why they were wise to secure the Xenix franchise so early.

Still doesn’t explain how Gates missed diving into the Internet in his book The Road Ahead. (At least, in its original editions.)

Gmail is secure. Netflix is secure. Together they're a phishing threat

Re: Will it really make any differece?

Yes, I think this was the missing piece in previous descriptions. Good point. Thanks!

Re: Why should punctuation in a name indicate a different person any more than it does in real life?

I don't think you understand the attack. You create a previously non-existant account on Netflix, which is given the dotted email address. When the legitimate Netflix user gets the message, they are able to change the card details. Some (admittedly small) percentage of folks will do just that, allowing the fake user to get Netflix for free.

Microsoft has open-sourced PowerShell for Linux, Macs. Repeat, Microsoft has open-sourced PowerShell

LOL They are finally back to where they were more than 30 years ago...

when I remember reading Microsoft posts on Usenet in 1982.

Folks seem to forget they were the largest Unix... UNIX... whatever it was at the time, licensor (OK, technically, XENIX, but it was still Unix) in the mid to late 1980s.

Of course, Gates had to rewrite and extend The Road Ahead having famously underestimated the WWW. I remember thinking how odd that was see as they were active on the Internet way before the web was the web.

Cool! I look forward to seeing how things develop.

Good times. :-)
