Well I mean at least they pledged to improve the process. Yes CF is a corporation and as a corporation has no sense of morality, but I truly believe that the people working there are mostly trying to improve the world. So kudos to them for improving. I just hope they don’t fire the engineers, prior to this there apparently wasn’t a clear procedure so you can’t fault an employee for not following a rule that doesn’t exist.

Red Hat defends its CentOS decision, claims Stream version can cover '95% of current user workloads'
RH was on a decline stream and their growth has staggered ever since Docker was made popular. I work for a competitor of RH and we stopped looking at them as a viable competition way before the IBM buy. The buy just confirmed that the game is over for them, which was a shame since their products were way better that ours but we have much bigger user base and we actually moved way for selling operating systems to selling solutions. I personally used CentOS for many years and am sad to see it sink with the RH ship but that was also kind of expected when they joined RH. RH never had inceptive to keep CentOS alive. I am moving back to my UNIX roots with a combination of FreeBSD and OpenBSD since Ubuntu (while a great desktop OS) is a terrible server OS. So BSD for personal projects while my employer was smart enough to do its own distro (which is a gigantic turd) but at least we won’t have to migrate it.
GoDaddy CEO says US is 'tech illiterate' (so, yeah, don't shut off that cheap H-1B supply)
Re: Solution
Yeah sure, Cisco and MS already did that and now we have people making technical decisions based solely on marketing talk.
My beginner CS and networking classes covered: Cisco CCNA(nothing else, there is no other technologies in networking apparently) and the MS portfolio. It took a proactive teacher to show us SUSE in her free time.
Have you ever wondered why you are stuck with useless overpriced Cisco/MS kit? Well someone was lectured by those guys in school.
What the US needs is for those idiots to pay their taxes, if they paid their fair share then free or semi-free quality education from non-corporate educators can be provided.
But you won`t get that if you voted for Trump(or Hilary for that matter).
Russia (A) bans web porn as a 'bad influence' (B) decriminalizes domestic violence – or (C) all of the above?
Re: Anonymous
It is also language-correct. Vladimir and Vladislav have the same root - the word vladeti(to rule). In most Slavic countries it is ok to call Vladimir or Vladislav just Vlad.
A nice piss take would be to use the Croatian variant - Ladimir or just Lad.
On the topic, Russia is just going back to pre-90s era. Then to beat your spouse/kids was normal and the police did not intervene before you kill someone. Also drink and drive was allowed so expect news on that front as well.

I worked at HP during his time as CEO.
He was so good at it that when he left most of the HP professional workforce was gone. We used to call him Mark Turd.
Nothing that this man says will ever happen, he is a cheat and knows nothing about technology.
With him its all about little savings that look good on paper, but are devastating in reality.
Why HP failed: Carly, Turd, Leo.
Note: Meg actually had some good ideas, but by the time she got to be CEO HP was already dead.
Google's become an obsessive stalker and you can't get a restraining order
Re: So turn off mobile data
Better yet turn off mobile data only for "Google Play services".
You can do that on any Android device from Settings > Apps > [Show system] > Google Play serivces > Data usage > Background data > No
For the too paranoid, you can also use a outbound firewall(requires root) and the crafty app "DisableService"(requires root) in order to 1. Stop all connections from Play services 2. Disable all Location related services part of that app.
Or you know buy a phone without integrated tracking.
Delete Google Maps? Go ahead, says Google, we'll still track you
Re: eh?
You can turn that off too, as usual it is hidden(you can turn all tracking off in Android, but you have to find the right switch in the wrong place).
Wi-Fi scanning can be turned off by going into Settings - > Location -> (click on the 3 dots icon) -> Turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning.
Now every time you turn on your location services the bugger will try to social engineer you into enabling Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning.
Best is to use Cyanogenmod (or other) without the pesky Google apps. There are alternative "stores" from F-Droid(Open-source) and Amazon.
Here is a good atricle on how to "secure" your phone with CM, they have listed all those hidden switches:
https://blog.torproject.org/blog/mission-impossible-hardening-android-security-and-privacy
I have a Nexus 5X with CM, Privacy protect turned on for all apps(including the build in ones) outbound firewall(AFWall+) and anon VPN service. So I am really considering buying Nokia 3310 and a Garmin GPS device :)

Well in one perfect world where this thing called "freedom of the press" really exists I`d expect other outlets to protest this practice by not going to Apple events.
But here in our reality the press is dead. Most of the outlets are nothing more than advertising companies for the highest bidder.
Kudos to El Reg for trying to protect the dying art of journalism however!

Just a few helpful links for you KVM guys out there:
Disable per guest:
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/linuxonibm/liaat/liaatbpkvmuseguest.htm
Disable globally(RHEL)
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Virtualization_Administration_Guide/chap-KSM.html
If you disable it globally best to list it in the xml of every VM too since update of libvirt may re-enable the ksm and ksmtuned service.
