Amazon Prime Air flight crashes in Texas after 6,000ft nosedive

Re: Sounds like an old problem

Well, the problem was eventually found and fixed after two fatal crashes (it was not an easy problem to find even when suspicion was on one particular part). And it only affected 737's, not 767's.

I have my own theories on what most likely caused this but will keep them to myself and let the experts actually figure it out.

Re: 8TB?

The article is somewhat confusing on this point.

The drive is made out of 16 chip packages, each provides *512GB* so 16*512GB = 8TB. Each chip package consists of 16 layers of 256Gbits, so 16*256/8=512GB per package.

Re: Vendor layer

@Whitter - "vendor" in the case of Treble is the SoC vendor. Not the phone vendor or network.

New MH370 analysis again says we looked in the wrong places

Re: It is a waste of time

You probably haven't seen the sonar imagery that came from the search (the actual search sonar not the pre-mapping work that was done to reconnoiter the area). Have a look at the Mh370 ATSB page, they have some samples on there. If they had searched the right area, the plane (or its debris field) would be quite clearly visible on sonar. They weren't using fish finders for the search, they wouldn't have even bothered if "the odds of recognising it via sonar at such depths are quite small".

Re: This makes me wonder . .

>What if you go straight up, as slowly as you like, to geostationary orbit?

Because when you get there, the sideways velocity you inherited from the surface of the earth would be 1600kmh if you had started on the equator. The sideways velocity required to stay there is 11000kmh which - a delta-v of ~10000kmh requires a huge amount of energy to reach.

Using your proposal, when you turn your engines off when you get there, the result will be that you will fall back down again and crash somewhere else on earth as it has rotated underneath you.
