Built to last: Time to dispose of the disposable, unrepairable brick

Pigs and troughs

Yeah I agree, but I start from the other end, upgrading the machine over ten years till it bears no relation to the original, but then I'm always adding pieces, judiciously. I get great pleasure squeezing the pips, got a twelve year old Dell Vostro that Madam had from an OU Maths degree from Vista to Win10Pro x64: cost £75 approx, now that's what I cal value for money. It runs a bit warm but the build I see has not been surpassed. Any firm that offers that I'd look at next time I'm forced to buy one.

Here I am reading that telling myself I want to get back in the real world of work (I'm semi-retired due top health assisting The Boss aka Mrs) and I lose the will to launch a new biz. Shucks and Brexit, that will be curse word in the future "send him/her to Brexit" I'm losing the will, still a great laugh and I'm currrently doing the (late) VAT return

Return to ...

This isn't novel to IT, we all know GIGO. Well back in the time when the latest office gear was a Golf Ball typewriter and a photocopier (early Seventies) I was in the rag trade and I heard of this typo. An order for 3000 metres of a satin was ordered by this company. Unfortunately 30,000 metres were delivered to the fabric printers. A few months later the company in question as we used st say, 'went up'. The print in question was named after Elvis's "Return to Sender"! BC

That's what comes to mind.

I opened a phone account for my elderly mother, which was closed at least five years ago.

Funny isn't it that I still get emails (from TalkTalk) asking me to check the account!!

Would you really use this company for anything? BC

did you say the NSA?

Blimey just for a second I thought maybe even they and Echelon had pushed their budgets a bit too far. Then I reread it and it's NASA, so I can relax then. One downside of being dyslexic, still I hear they're hiring at The Doughnut down in Hubble Road. BC

not excusable

Thought I'd see what the comments were re last week's 'outages'. We are a one woman and her husband Ed. SME. We experienced 5 hours off line on Tuesday from 1800ish whilst Dell was attempting to discover the fault on an XPS. When I contacted PlusNet was informed that OpenReach were conducting 'planned maintenance’. Yeah and I'm the Queen of Sheba there was nothing up on their site that I could find. Don't remember ISDN in the 90s like this, suppose that's progress e.g. demand etc. Interested to know if countries like South Korea experience these issues, expect it wouldn’t be tolerated. What/whose fault it was it’s just not excusable in 2016!

This was the notice, faults troubleshooter err faults well yes, not related, who knows, maybe somebody dropped a spanner, just maybe.
