It’s simple really
When a radio broadcasts music
It pays royalties
FB wants to do this but for free

Yup that sounds like a government contract
Pay for bad code
Pay for bug fixes because of bad code
Pay for bug fixes to the bug fixes because of bad code
Scrap the system and pay the exit clause
Rehire the same team and expect a different outcome - total insanity
Well done Dildo
This is just another illusion out forward by the bug tech privacy advocates
It is just white wash, apple will give you the option to not be tracked by anyone other than apple
Come on ....
Just be honest apple and state
“ we will milk you for all we can get, and we will milk anyone using our equipment “
It’s funny you pay to get the code written and then you pay again to get the code fixed
Each time the offshore companies take your money
And the donkey bean counters convince themselves they are saving money
Look at the cost of fixing bad software and then wonder why these offshore outfits are making loads of money
It seems it pays to write bad or terrible code
Bill
Bill
Bill
Bill
Once a product becomes this ubiquitous it should fall under the control of the country’s regulatory system like BT
There should no take it or leave it option as leave it is no longer an option
I only used WhatsApp because colleagues are using it and the data was secure and not sent to FB
What option do I now have
I will point it out to the data security team at the company I work for and maybe they will ban it from work devices
It is a pity as this was very useful
If accountants were personally liable for signing off accounts then issues like this would go away
HP should be chasing Delloite for the monies as THEY signed them off
One prosecution like that and the whole issue will disappear
It appears that the big 4 seem to have a real reputation issue to the public but NOT to business
Without companies like this the UK IT sector is diminished
UK plc need to arrange the purchase by UK buyers
Once it’s in the USA we WILL be screwed over
Example look at Cadbury they promised it would stay it was gone within a year and now the chocolate tastes of coconut oil
You cannot trust the USA on business
So once the Trump has left office, nice Mr Biden will kill the lawsuit and allow millions of H1 visa people to flood in.
Hmm sounds very ANTI AMERICAN.
As for outsourcing here in the UK it is massive in the financial sector THE IR35 rule almost forces employers to use off shore, the quality is truly something to behold ....
Hybrids have been reported that they produce MORE toxins than petrol or diesel cars
Better to just ban petrol and diesel personal vehicles
Allow business to use the hybrid model
Fill the roofs of the UK with solar and hills with wind turbines
If it is still not enough energy TOUGH
Help google
No thanks I will pass on that
Every website I visit is passed to google even when I use a different browser
G Analytics is everywhere it’s like some sort of virus just slurping the data up
I now have blocks on google URLs but they keep changing them hardly a reputable action, none of the GDPR cookie consents EVER turn GA off
The question I would have asked him
"Given a blank slate, what would you do now?"
C# is great and has provided me with a good living for a long time, VB before that, Delphi before that and Cobol before that.
When I look at what these guys and gals produce, I can see that I stand on the shoulders of GIANTS, I am OK with that :)
India is planning ahead, good for them
Glad to see the UK government doing the same, IR35 has helped to boost the Indian outsourcing companies.
UK plc closing down its freelance sector to help India, it just makes sense, after all India has its space program to fund.
Well done Mr Sunak for helping India it shows where your allegiance is.
I don't understand the problem here.
The platform allows users to self publish material on THEIR platforms.
They ARE a publisher.
Seems real simple, now time for the lawyers to jump in and start grabbing cash for total BS arguments.
If I wrote an article and sent it into the Telegraph or the Times and they published it, THEY would also carry liability, what's the difference ?
I had to show an Angular dev how I would have coded a small piece of a webpage in JS,
“why would you do that you can use a library” was the reply.
I asked him “what does the library do ?“
“It validates the input in the text box With simple markup”
I then asked
“what else’s it does”
his reply I think shocked himself
“I don’t know”
And the penny dropped ....
Don’t you think that by now we really should have this s@@t sorted out.
I received a dodgy looking unexpected email, used the “report suspicious email” button and away it went.
Then all hell broke loose as the security guy just open the attachment and it proceeded to copy itself to all shares and encrypt an files found, 5 minutes it was all over the network.
Links / attachments from outside of your domain should be quarantined or just deleted.
A friend did this with the Glastonbury website
He passed the script out to his friends and they ALL secured the tickets they wanted within minutes of the site opening up
That’s just clever people being clever nothing illegal about it
It was in their world of expertise so it’s not a problem
If someone else can’t get a slot well tough that’s the way the world works
Call the cops, that is pathetic
Working from home saves a fortune in time and costs
I spent £7k on fuel last year this year I expect it to be around £2k that is a pay rise in itself factor in the saving of the 2 -3hr commute and I am on easy street
Think with IT people is you can always move job if your not valued correctly
The charges are wrong, just plain wrong.
App Store & Play Store are an offering to the user to BUY the damn device.
The security scanning etc.. THAT is what the manufacturers should be offering to make THEIR shiny product worth buying.
It is a monopoly (other games are available) 30% disgusting ... over £1k for a phone disgusting
A while ago ..
We had a need to replace ALL the laptops and desktops (full upgrade cycle)
I.T. listed the specs and placed the order £70k
Bean counter objected
I.T. Manager jumped in and altered the specs to fit the "new" budget.
Kit arrived with 5,400 rpm hard drives and processors 2 levels lower than we requested.
Supplier refused to take them back.
They sat in the corner for years as they were slower than the kit we already had.
