Got an old macbook the PHB discarted.
New aftermarket battery, installed linux on it, great little machine for around the house use.
Now I can appreciate Apple isn't too concerned with those enjoying the freebies when the PHB moves on to their next shiny offering...
I'm a big fan of the Px Lite series.
I've had 2 (currently on P8 Lite) and got my mum a P10 Lite she loves.
Great value for money, do what I need them to do...
Tried to convince the mrs to get the P20 Lite, but she doesn't do sensible...
Rather surprisingly to me she got the P20 instead (her first Huawei), the camera really won her over and despite it still being too much money, the damage was more contained than usual.
I think that's the real use case for autonomous vehicles: combining taxi and car sharing into public transport.
If you can have an uber style app to hail a ride from a fleet of AV's cheaply, and don't mind that car picking up someone else along the way, you could get cheaper and more conveniently to work than by owning a car or current public transport for your day to day movements.
That would free you up to own something personal and fun for the weekend, or alternatively have a family SUV and not use it 95% of the time to sit in city or commuting traffic by yourself but possibly use it for its capabilities.
And it could free you up from owning a car altogether which a growing number of people might find attractive.
Currently living in Spain and while I have certain understanding for self-determination feelings, I come from a country with strong regional differences (arguable a lot stronger than the spanish - catalan ones) and I'm flatly opposed to nationalist movements in my country of origin too.
The reality is that Spanish government is certainly flawed, but Catalan government makes it look good in comparison.
The Catalan region is paying in more into Spain than it gets out, but no shit Sherlock, it's the richest area in Spain, that's how things work where you at least attempt to serve the common good.
But it's an easy distraction from the fact that the richest area of Spain seems to be unable to balance its books. Easier to blame central government "stealing your wealth" rather than getting your own house in order.
