H-1B visa applications from India plummet (and Trump can't claim credit)

noh1bvisas

Thanks, Trump

Trump DOES get the credit. He made his position clear long before the h1b applications. Read some of the indian paper - they are all saying it's the "Trump Effect".

Signature Trump policy - H-1B visa reform - looks to be on the back burner

Disney sued in race row: Axed IT workers claim jobs went to H-1B hires

Disney is depicable

In a way, Disney's un-American actions helped elect Donald Trump.

Disney is depicable

I hope the workers win. What Disney did was wrong. It was un-American. In a way, I have to thank Disney, though, for helping elect Donald Trump. Disney was a turning point.

Trump may stump Australian techies heading for the US

Americans First

Trump ran, and was elected, on the "America first" platform. Nobody should be surprised.

How easy is it for an American to get a work visa for AUS?

Dang. They might have to hire Americans.

Coding will win you the election, narcissistic techies boasted to Hillary

What a load of BS

Kids aren't going into IT these days because greedy companies will replace you with a cheap foreign guest worker using the h1b or any associated visas. Kids aren't dumb - they see what's happening.

Modi hints at H-1B unease

Re: Who wants to work in the US anyway?

"Who wants to work in the US anyway?

I mean it's hugely expensive, there is little infrastructure, there are only few jobs that are interresting and non destructive."

.

odd you don't say where you're from. I've had the good fortune to travel in over 50 countries. the US has no equal.

Re: Good for competition?

"Dr. Michio Kaku speaks about how America's poor educational system has created a shortage of Americans who can perform high skilled technology jobs. As a result, America's H-1B Genius visa is used to attract immigrants who are skilled enough to perform these jobs."

LOL! so skilled they have to be trained by the americans they are replacing. kids today aren't stupid. they see tech wages falling. why invest in a IT degree?

Re: Good for competition?

"Great, so instead of importing people do do the jobs in the US, they'll just offshore the jobs to wherever the people are. That way you lose not only the job itself but all the work and subsidiary jobs associated with it."

.

not all jobs can be offshored. if these big tech companies wanted to move, they would move. as for the subsidiary jobs, even those are less with an h1b. h1bs earn les, so they spend less. they live 6 guys to a one bedroom apt. they don't buy cars, shop (eve see an indian in a mall?), eat out (I always see them packing their lunches), they are also busy sending money back to their home country.

Re: Good for competition?

"But then, as a private company, I'm allowed to think beyond the current quarter."

.

Heresy!!! (joking)!

noh1bvisas

1. the power to make/change visa law lies with congress.

2. trump hires h1bs and h2bs instead of Americans.

3. fortunately, trump will never be POTUS.

Re: Good for competition?

you can better yourself in your own country and not harm the USA doing it.

US tech CEOs demand Congress programs US kids to be tech workers

Re: @noh1bvisas

WRONG. h1bs are cheaper. it has nothing to do with skills or the spread of science.

noh1bvisas

as a US citizen, I DEMAND greedy corporations stop hiring h1b guestworkers and pay a living wage to Americans. wages for IT workers have gone down steadily for 15+ years. kids aren't stupid - why would they go into IT these days?

.

as a US citizen, I DEMAND my government end the h1b guestworker program immediately.
