Apple tipped to go full wireless by 2021, and you're all still grumbling about a headphone jack

Car Play

I just purchased a 2020 Lexus, it requires usb for Apply Car Play. How will that work in 2021? I’m sure Lexus isn’t updating old cars.

Is this a US only problem or is it also happening in other countries?

Sysadmin shut down the wrong server, and with it all European operations

Solaris e25k

A fellow admin I worked with 10 years ago was told by a senior manager he needed to immediately know the last three times a critical production E25k domain was rebooted. Admin logged in to the domain mid-day and issued,

last grep reboot

Which we all know is not the same as,

last | grep reboot

Or as safe as,

last | grep boot

We wound up having to open a case with Sun to determine why the domain ‘crashed’ mid-day. They never found the root cause....

4 years from now....

people will be really pissed when they find out they can no longer wireless charge their phones as fast as they used to in 2017 due to battery degradation. And today’s $80 battery replacement will be $110 then.

Really?

Apple and Google sitting on billions in cash couldn't pony up another 20 million bug bounty to make all the serious/critical bugs known?

Sony smart TV

I bought my first smart TV in July. Sony 75 inch XBR 4K. Looks amazing. Runs Android. I can't believe how often I have to reboot the TV to get it to work. Probably every week, or at least twice a month. YouTube and pbskids stops working. The voice search stops working. Changing inputs from hdmi1 to hdmi2 starts to take 10 seconds. Only a 5 minute reboot clears it up.

I can't wait to see what car manufacturer thinks it's a good idea to use Android.

My Nest smoke alarm was great … right up to the point it went nuts

Daylight Savings

In the past 10 years I have had children and resolved to change all the batteries in all the detectors every 'fall back' I haven't had one low battery chirp. Yes it might cost $20 a year in batteries, but the thought of explaining why someone died of smoke inhalation because I forgot to replace the batteries isn't a conversation I would want to have.

Re: Isn't it pointless

It will have a usb stick. They hope the aliens will plug it in their pc when it gets there.
