AirPort owners: Apple's patched a mystery vuln

nullnonce

My 6 y.o. Time capsule just updated...

... For the first time in a year or two. It's outlasted 3 routers, 4 modems and is still supported.

And where all the others have each had numerous remote code execution exploits, most of which are now left unpatched, these TCs, airport/ Apple wifi routers have never suffered one (until perhaps now). But look it's already patched.

Good on you Apple, keep it up. It's because of this kind of support that I buy your kit- this one time capsule is the only one of 10 such devices I have working- let alone still supported!

Re: Suppliers winning disputes

But gubmint bureaucrats change regularly, get promoted, retire, move sideways... So writing the deal in the club house or over cigars and scotch brings with it time to tweak the contract, 'develop' and spread the hours needed to drive revenue through the roof and fund your lawyers to drag it out after it goes belly-up.

Your developers wrap the turds in an extra layer of glitter and run from the stink that threatens to consume their sanity. The pollies swap batons at the election, the bureaucrats get promotions for sending confidential data to 'accessible' clouds and adding a digital microsite and mibile app. You win the lawsuit and collect more free taxpayer money over something that no one has time for anymore, cares about, or actually understands.

Everyone who matters wins!

W00t. Finally I have a reason to get one, if it checks out.

But its a bit late in the product cycle... so need to check the competition carefully.

How does the compute capacity of a PS4 compare to modern 1RU servers? Mac minis? In its own rack it may be quite effective for running KVM, etc. Are Sony still selling them under cost (NOT!)

It's an old hack, but a good hack!

The spread of IoT may well be truly upon us, your a$$ might already be p0wned, your digital virginity bleeding in a back room in some airport... but no, you can't give up.

Stand up to Siri soldier- steel yourself!

Only install trusted apps that you need. Avoid cloud-sharers and greedy apps that do not disclose what they do or demand access to private data.

Disable screen notifications, touchID, Bluetooth!

Harden that smartphone! Airplane mode at airports, no exceptions. It is an Internet device, not a toy! Data slurping by anonymous actors is going down everywhere.
