Apple's M1: the fastest and bestest ever silicon = revolution? Nah, there's far more interesting stuff happening in tech that matters to everyone

Re: Headline-whoring

Agreed. Scant on detail and makes it sound like Apple are going back to writing their operating system in machine code. Maybe I'm just an Apple fanboi - despite writing this on KDE Neon on a Lenovo ThinkPad - but data mining how many people are buying grey socks won't ever be interesting to me, even in holiday season. Whether my apps run faster than they did before or if I'll notice if the architecture changes underneath them (if it does, it's bad, and yes I'm aware that some of the command line Unixy stuff doesn't work on M1 yet): that's interesting to me.

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon.

Fighting over this is stupid.

Anyone who thinks Star Wars is better than Star Trek is not worth fighting. They're clearly an idiot.

Assuming JJ's comment *isn't* sarcasm, 1998 called; they want their ignorance back. And for the sarcasmically-challenged, yes, that was it.
