Microsoft's latest Windows 10 update downs Chrome, Cortana

Linux

Re: Try Linux. - Or DON'T! (My love/hate Linux rant.)

At last, another reader with balls.

Linux is crap, I have installed every version since I started in the industry and although I worked for some time with Ubuntu 9 it regularly fell apart and required rebuilding.

I have only ever supported one company using non-Windows PC's and I fired them at the start of last year as they turned into Time Bandits requiring more and more support as the OS caused loads of problems also Windows users do not like or get on with Linux (or anything non-Windows).

If it wasn't for the Real Ale drinking, Windows hating old farts out there these fringe OS's would have died the natural death decades ago (the down vote button is below).

Just thought I would add my opinion.

We`re funded entirely by adverts. You may be running an adblocker. You can see where we are going here ...

UK, Channel 4, you are banned for having an adblocker installed regardless of it being active ....

Just d/l and content you want to see on BitLord or uTorrent or search the content online, someone will have it.

Nice company, shame about the food ...

I am a sucker for a freebie and took Graze up on their offer of a free graze (see what I did there?) and received a small pack of six (I think) small pack of food yipee.

I leapt right in and eat some brazil nuts ... my favourite ... and was immediately ill and I mean immediately, new keyboard required.

This cannot have been Grazes fault after all how can you bugger up nuts (answers on a post card please) but I thought I would not touch any more Graze snax.

About a week later I had the Munchies and found the Graze box and saw what looked and tasted like Sticky Toffee pudding so that got the treatment. An hour later I just saved the new keyboard, threw the remaining Graze poisons in the bin and ignored the company since except for emailing them about my problems to which they never replied.

Give me a Marathon, Aztec, Five Boys or some Opal Fruits any day of the week.

The 1980s - Bulletin Boards

Yep I was on the internet (arpanet) during the 80's and regularly connected to bulletin boards (like a website but text only and only I visitor at a time. I bought the top modem available and downloaded software at stupidly slow speed, I remember a 14K app (app!) for the Commodore 64 taking over an hour to download using a BT landline during the day, I don't remember the cost but after contacting the boards directly they agreed to send stuff to me on floppy (as long as I promised to return them, ah innocent happy days).

When I finally got an AOL (spits) account and accessed the net proper my PC was not good enough to resolve the graphics and so I spent £650 on a brand new windows 3.1 box and here I am now (that box is beside me running win XP very slowly).

Always start from scratch!

Hi,

My second post this year, I am becoming addicted to this site.

I am a virus hunter and remove viruses from users PC's literally all day long (correct use of the word!).

I have thousands of customers and most will bring me any new laptop unopened to reinstall from scratch, It takes about 2 hours and then a half hour talk about what they should and shouldn't do with it.

I have never had one of these laptops back with a problem but anyone who stays with the OEM version I usually make my money when they inevitably get infected.

I also do public speaking about computers et al and it is incredible what (usually aged) think about computers etc. Most believe that when their PC gets slow and chuggy with PUPs and viruses it is worn out and is time to buy a new one. I have lost count of how many PC I have saved from being binned by the owner.

Finally, I think Windows 10 is fine for the average user and when I have upgraded a user from 7 or 8 they need a 5 minute tour around the new OS and away they go. I never get calls asking where is this or that they seem to just find everything. So all the Windows 10 haters lurking on this site can carry on with Linux (OK but the GUI is crap) and shut up about Windows 10.

Cue the haters ...

Aargh bleach my eyeballs

My job involves working remotely on the clients PC and I regularly see users return to a PC forgetting that I am remoting it. The worst was an ex-CEO of a national company, a 70-80 year old male who opened the fox, clicked a link and we both were treated to Vietnamese men fisting each other.

The ONLY AV that really works ( and its free )

Every day I read the articles in El Rag and nothing has ever got my dander up like this topic.

Let me explain, I remove viruses for a living ... for the last twelve years I have sat at my PC and reached out (via Remote Utilities) to poor souls who are trapped by the latest CryptoLocker clone or cannot search Google but have to rely on DuckGoDukCrud.com. My record is 31 Windows boxes cleaned in a day and my average is around 10 per day. Since I started I have only had to reformat/reinstall 11 times (each one burns in my memory) and I can state that Bleeding Computer is the number one site for help of this kind.

Spyhunter is also my friend as I get lots of boxes to clean where the owner has light show products like Spyhunter or SuperAntiSpyware and no AV.

All AV products are my friend as viruses get past them with a little help (read stupidity) from the owner.

What is the AV product that works?

YER MUM!

Expect next post in a couple of years.

End of line.
