BNP membership list leaks online

jon

RE: And when it's you? By Justin Case

"Or is it just OK because the BNP are a bunch of racist berks?"

Its OK as far as I am concerned, especially if it outs BNP members operating within the Police force and other organisations who do not allow BNP Members to join.

re: Comment of losing my job By Jamie

If that political leaning is likely to cause you to be discriminatory to non whites then it is totally right that they are banned from operating in certain organisations such as the police.

California teen offers GPS challenge to speeding rap

jon
Thumb Down

FAO Hedley Phillips

Hedley, you do know that by law all speedometers are innacurate, so the only way to know your true speed is GPS.

Also as has been proven in a UK Court, Radar guns are not 100% accurate, so perhaps your smugness should be reigned in a bit.

ps. there are two types of people in this world, people who have broken the speed limit, and liars. ;)

jon

This just happened in the UK too

An inventor caught by kent police for apparently doing over 40 in a 30 zone presented evidence from a GPS product he was testing which showed his true speed to be 29.7mph.

Kent police have now suspended use of speed guns pending investigations.

UK ID card service mounts birth, marriage, death landgrab

jon

Rich has hit the nail on the head

and contrary to what he said, the tax/control/track aspect has been raised numerous times by the anti-id fraternity and generally forms the crux of their argument against ID cards and the NIR.

The problem is the populous at large are too blinkered to see the real reasons and happily accuse those who do see the true reason for the NIR/ID system as card carrying members of the tin foil hat brigade, which is unfortunate, and ultimately lazy thinking.

Public apathy will be key to the government introducing this system.

I will leave this country before succumbing to state enforced registration of my biometrics.

Greek cops to paintball rioting fans

jon

wow

the belligerence of some of the comments here beggars belief!!!

Yes hooliganism should be dealt with swiftly and harshly, but peppering crowds of people; which will inevitably contain true fans who have innocently just gone to watch the game and don't want trouble; with innaccurate paintball guns with the potential to blind is just downright stupid and negligent.

Says alot about people that they can put these concerns aside in pursuit of tackling hooliganism.

For shame people.

Scientist says nerve gas nastier than you thought

jon

there is also the

theory that gulf war syndrome is a result of the soft drinks supplied to the troops during the first Gulf War.

They were all sugar free aspartame based drinks. When a drink like that is left in the sun to heat up, the aspartame breaks down into toxic chemicals including formaldehyde.

Nice, pickled from the inside out with a DNA-unfriendly toxin.

Good on you FDA/Cheney for authorising the use of such a nasty chemical

re: Circumcision is the answer....

Have you not heard of condoms??

Perhaps you could explain how the US, with a circ rate of 80%(until very recently), has the highest rate of HIV infection in the western world?

Perhaps you might also explain the findings of studies which have found lysosomes contained in smegma(which you ladies produce too) which are effective in combatting the HIV virus?

Circumcision causes more problems, physically, psychologcally and sexually than it solves hence the growing backlash in the US against it.

Besides, leaving a man intact is also more fun for the ladies, making things more "comfortable" for them.

Also it is very easy for a woman to demand a man get cut, afterall, its not her most sensitive genital tissue being removed.

Not only that Female Genital Mutilation is banned by law in most countries, while MGM is seen as a "harmless" cut.

So much for equality eh? A person, be they male or female, should have a right to bodily integrity. Have you ever watched a circumcision? Its barbaric.

ps well said Mycho, thats been the reaction to the study from most people, i.e. men who get cut arent gonna be doing it for a coupl months after, at least!!

Accused Pentagon hacker prosecution could backfire

If the law lords dont rule in Garys favour

then I will have lost all faith in the UK legal system, and it will cement my feeling that we are nothing more than the 51st state of the US.

The extradition agreement that the US is attempting to use to snatch him from his home country is heavily and unfairly biased towards the United States.

His alleged crimes, while carried out on US computer systems, were perpetrated in the UK, therefore he should be tried under UK law and serve any sentence within the UK.

I feel the comments regarding scapegoating him are wholly accurate, as was stated had a corporation suffered a breach of security due to the lack of foresight of the IT security team, someone would lose their job.

This is purely about shifting the media spotlight onto Gary, rather than the US military admitting their embarrasing and inexcusable lack of security.

Government predicts one third of people will resist ID checks

jon

JP - the problem is

the hideously over arching NIR database which sits behind the ID card database, not to mention the threat of £2000 fines if you do not update the information on the database due to any trivial change in your life( new hair colour, new glasses, new hair cut etc etc).

also there is the rediculous fact that should one of the offshote data entry firms enter your data wrong, the only and I mean ONLY person who can authorise a change in that data is the Home Secretary.

The ID Card system/NIR database in the form the government wishes to introduce it is a draconian orwellian nightmare waiting to happen.

Anyone seen the video for Land of Confusion by Disturbed? Thats what I would like to see if they do press on with this >:o)

I would have no problem *whatsoever* with a standalone ID card which contained my photo and my thumbprint, but nothing else. This is I understand what they have in Spain.

jon

ps

yes I am one of the people who will resist, they will not take my biometrics and if it means leaving the country that I was born in and love then so be it.

about time

Its about time we had some realistic and pragmatic research on drugs, illegal and legal.

It simply confirms what pretty much every drug user has always said, tobacco is more addictive than many class a's and alcohol is more damaging than most illegal drugs.

Hats off to those who carried out this research.

Will it change Government policy? Doubtful.
