Openreach offers more wholesale fiber discounts, rivals call foul

Mike Bunyan

Re: Admission

I agree on lack of regulation, adding probability BT/Openreach and other majors manipulating the market.

Sadly I see multiple fibre installations along local streets where one would suffice if the 'carrier' market were better controlled to force prices down.

Such a waste of resources, money and environmental impact.

Unsung visionary

Sadly we do not hear enough about or praise enough those who have vision and drive when they are most active.

Demon was my first 'business' user internet facility shortly after it started up. The staff and support were excellent. One took time out to help me learn perl.

My sincere condolences.

meta grab

Looks like a grab for all internet websites. 'meta' is a fundamental for good internet sites, using the html tag 'meta' to enhance information or deliver instruction to the browser and user.

Most likely any future search for 'meta' tag data/values will surface the new Meta, instead of desired technical information.

Pity 'meta' is open source technical keyword and, probably, cannot be cited as 'protected' or 'licenced'.

Looks like more trouble ahead for developers.

Still buying and developing using ancient methods

I am still seeing purchases and investment into active x and using outdated techniques for app delivery that will not stand test of time.

The next issue will be SilverLight, as Microsoft begins to deprecate the product.

Use Facebook

I think the UK government would save a lot of cash and embarrassment by using Facebook for personal information about everyone in the UK. It's far more useful than any database I have seen created by government and it is 'public' thereby saving the embarrassment of loosing it all.

Russian officials: No threat from yellow snow

Nothing new

Frank Zappa commented on the necessity of avoiding yellow snow.

Maybe the gods have decided to **** on us in order to gain more attention to themselves.

I gather from MetOffice that snow is due to fall in England this week. What colour would we wish for?
