We're LOOKING for HO-HUM.

Reusability, reliability, and low cost are the goals. And so the scribblers complain when things turn out well. Paid by the word, and overpaid at that!

Uber wasn't to blame for robo-ride crash – or was it? Witness said car tried to 'beat the lights'

Re: Well, if Uber's cars are programmed in a manner consistant with the rest of Uber's philosophy

My impression was that she hit the Uber car in the side with enough force to push the Uber onto it's side. In any case, it was her responsibility to make sure the intersection was clear before entering it. Make this out to be Uber's fault? That's just P.C. in my book.

Gee, find me a "safe place". "Rednecks" were tough people. Probably with more of a sense of humor.

15 Pedestrians beware!

Truck - kill me. Pedestrians - possible life in prison. In that situation, I don't want to leave it up to the car. I admit, i'd go for the soft target!

Of coarse, a decent self-driving car would just do a "Dukes of Hazard" turn. Problem solved.

Re: Uber Annoyances

As an Uber driver who has NEVER had a fare, I find it strange that many drivers WANT to be treated as employees? That would work out well for me, just a little dishonest.

Disclaimer: I live in rural Colorado, and have really lousy Verizon service. LOL

Legal? Follow the money.

Ever hear of "Jury Nullification". Legal and laws have their place. Unless some entity pushes on outdated laws, supported by dying industries and their contributions to politicians' re-election coffers, the public continues to suffer.

Appetite / Intelligence. In my perfect World as intelligence increases, it takes over action from appetite. I hope that Thiel is an example of that hypothesis.

Parents know best...or else!

The best advocate for kids is (are) their parents. Then the larger family, the village, then the Nanny state. The best of the past that will continue is that kids with ability will probably get along in the World. Hopefully, the best will excel. Ability will find mentors, disability will find champions. Woe to the mediocre middle.

Lyft, Uber throw Texas-sized tantrum over Austin driver law

Driver Friendly?

As an Uber driver, I would prefer Uber to support my driving rather than SHUT ME off. May I consider being fingerprinted a reasonable (even if unnecessary) requirement. Sure, taxi companies may be behind it, but that doesn't make it all bad. The way to win is to keep driving until there are enough supporters to change the law.

Uber driver who's never driven!

I'm just down here visiting from Colorado where I am an Uber driver who has never had a customer. On that, I'll keep trying to find a fare in my way rural part of the state.

As for the Austin requirement? From what I've read so far, it's not an unreasonable requirement. Uber and Lyft may be entities, but they're NOT governments. So how do the drivers feel about being excluded from Austin. Can't see this action by Uber and Lyft as being "driver friendly".

Room and board! No worse than being in a zoo, and no responsibilities. Might be a dangerous environment, but what isn't.

LOL. I like that.
