Supply, demand and a scary mountain of debt: The challenges facing IT as COVID-19 grips the global economy

Re: Just wait 2 weeks, Bob

I'm in Italy. With everyone at home, the surge in internet access over broadband is off the scales.

As for the health situation, China sent over 1000 ventilators and hundreds of thousands of masks and other supplies. Furthermore, Italy has done very well in converting public and private medical units to be able to house the ill. In Lazio alone, 1500 places have been created, all equipped with pre-intensive facilities and ONLY for Covid19. Indeed, they are called Covid19 Hospitals 1, 2, and 3. Lombardy has added another 400 beds to the ones it already has.How many ICU beds there are, I'm not sure.

US prez Donald Trump declares America closed to those flying in from Schengen zone over coronavirus woes

Trump should just....?

The fact that the Americans have been travelling from EU to USA before now doesn't affect them at all. of course not, it's just the EU countries' own travellers that have brought the Covid19 to USA since numbers have been growing.

Questionable. I'd like to see the Covid19 strains that they analyse to see what the origins are. For example, in Italy the strain comes from the German one found mid January before this all broke out in Italy a few weeks later.

Anyone knocking the Pope should be ashamed. All of you. If there's any pope that connects with the digital citizens of today it's Bergoglio. A man who prefers the simple things in life, the man next door. A kind man with a young spirit.

Well done The Register for not ignoring the question of feminicide in the world

It might not be there core mission but.......

"Killings by intimate partners or family members 2017: A total of 87,000 women were intentionally killed in 2017. More than half of them (58 per cent) ̶ 50,000 ̶ were killed by intimate partners or family members. This means that 137 women across the world are killed by a member of their own family every day. This amounts to some six women being killed every hour by people they know."

Re: in Euros

i admit I wasn't looking at amazon(.it) but local store pricing.

in Euros

At approximately 137 Euros, that's at least 100 less than the Apple Airpods (depending on where you buy them)

Yes, the Bull Shit system, because that's what Brexit is - a load of it.

Boris celebrates taking back control of Brexit Britain's immigration – with unlimited immigration program

Re: Controlling immigration was never that easy...

They've never excercised any of these rules or control it is all much too difficult for them. Much easier to pick names (of a specific group) out of a hat and then send threatening letters to them.

Re: I know, I know....

Exceptional talent?

Indeed. Why do Brits suck "Boris and co's" crap up?

Re: Made your bed, now lie in it

"What's the way forward? Dunno."

Sadly, we all drink the same water. I am hoping that we will all wake up from this nasty nightmare.

Made your bed, now lie in it

As much as I am a remainer, think that Cameron was stupid, that this whole Brexit nonsense has taken on a sickly corrupt tinge, many of us on the continent are looking at Brits thinking what the fuck have they been putting in the water. It's like you're in a daze. Rise up, revolt, did Huxley teach you nothing (hoping you've read Brave New World)?! Do you all want to lie in the bed the Tories have created for you?

Re: So, to sum up. . .

Not so much lying down, the Brits have basically bent over, and we all know in which direction.

Accenture sued over website redesign so bad it Hertz: Car hire biz demands $32m+ for 'defective' cyber-revamp

Cheap hire fobbed off as experienced managers

We all know that Accenture pay pittance for "just out of college" juniors. Their policy is "new hires for 6-month 'stage' " who are then used on such projects like this Hertz account. How could Hertz be so thick to start off with?

That really is taking the biscuit.

UK.gov isn't ready for no-deal Brexit – and 'secrecy' means businesses won't be either

Chaos and more chaos

If anyone can be bothered to read all the documentation just recently published here:

you'll notice that every single page starts with:

"A scenario in which the UK leaves the EU without agreement (a ‘no deal’ scenario) remains unlikely given the mutual interests of the UK and the EU in securing a negotiated outcome.

Negotiations are progressing well and both we and the EU continue to work hard to seek a positive deal. "

Going well, going wrong, going disaster???

You brexiteers that voted for this, you can relish in old episodes of Blakes' Seven and Doctor Who because that's about as close as UK is going to anything intergalactically spatial get if the gov doesn't get its head out of its arse and start dealing with this mistake of exiting the EU.

Brexsiht braindead

Given the majority who voted for Brexshit are those clueless members of society that don't know how to read and are easily goaded into acting irresponsibly because they aren't even capable of thinking before mouthing of a load of nonsense from the sewers they have for mouths, civil unrest could well be likely.
