VMware reach exceeds grasp

@show me another

I hope you virtualizers are putting money into FOSS projects too. I already run Qemu images on Windows, Linux & OSX of Plan 9, Linux & Windows2k which I can control via the Qemu console or the virtual serial port (plan9 is particularly suited to this - no surprise there).

I'm not pretending to know anything about datacentres or speed comparisons etc. but money into FOSS is an investment, even if it just keeps competition around for the highly financed ventures.

What a weasel. "If we can't have free music we're going to stop policing."

How does that work!?!

I'm going to try it when the electric bill comes : "We're a public funded charity and think it's better to spend a significant amount of our funding on our entertaining our employees than giving it to Eon?"

@The Mole & blocking via refer

Copyright a URL - that's like copyrighting a phone number + extension

The clue is in the U - Universal

blocking via refer is also stupid, some places strip them out of outgoing requests via DPI so you'd be potentially punishing your customers.

The only way is to add a personal identifier to *every* URI and redirecting based on a lack of it / expired - if you can find a suitable expiry time. And then you are punishing your customers because they can't cache anything.

Besides the story isn't even about deep linking, she linked to the HOMEPAGE.

jeesh, do you even know what "user space" means?

Your OS presents one interface : system calls - hooks into the devices to provide user land services. It's a KERNEL, not a command line or GUI.

You'll be telling me next Notepad is part of the Windows OS.

Your GUI is provided by USER space programs making (abstracted) calls to your graphics device (VGA card maybe).

IE7 - 25077.4ms (Win64)

Iceweasel 2.0.0.16 (gecko 1.8.1.6) 11845.8ms (Debian i386)

Epihpany 2.14.3 (Gecko 1.8) 11792.8ms (Debian i386)

Opera 9.52 - 3948.6ms (Win64)

FF 3.0.1 - 2868.6ms (Win64)

Hacker conspiracy - blegh!

I don't think for 1 sec it is the card dupers but even if it was if a shoddily duplicated card that returns invalid data crashed the system the blame lies not with the card duplicators but the input validation & verification code.

If I'd built the card system I would have made sure I'd fuzzed the nuts off it prior to deployment because one can guarantee that if I didn't then someone would be giving it a go down the ine.

Digital Cinema

@Daniel - which cinema claims that. Ours has been digital since 2006.

Not "all digital" mind because that sort of narrow mindedness means you can't show art house prints, and with that we wouldn't be in the top 10 cinemas in the world according to "Total Film" Magazine.
