Silverlight

We're using a system that was written in Silverlight and so naturally only works with IE. We're still waiting for the developers to rewrite the system in something else but they've been promising this for the last 24 months.

Capitalism is broken, no?

I'm no expert but surely this shows capitalism no longer works in today's economy. Surely capitalism relies on the 'underdog' taking down big corps; the cycle then continues. But these big corps have become seemingly invincible!

Rag and bone

Here in the North of England we have plenty of rag and bone men. They drive around call out "Ra un bon" and collecting scrap households leave out. Some even still use a horse and cart.

Morrisons launches bizarre Yorkshire Pudding pizza thing

As a proud Yorkshireman, I'd serve these delights as a starter, then as a main (with heavy gravy & mushy peas), and finally as a pudding with lashings of custard. Nom noms.

Airports...

are a great place to spot BSODs, "Windows not activated" messages and pop-ups blocking customer messages. Manchester's baggage carousel screens always seem to be plagued with problems, as do Helsinki's many screens. Actually Manchester Airport's entire computer systems seem to be problematic - I and the rest of the passengers on my flight got locked in a baggage collection room for about an hour as the staff couldn't get us out because they couldn't work out how to override the computerised door controls!

Bacon can kill: Official

Re: Call me Mr Thickie but....

I agree Mr Thickie, I think we need to understand exactly what "processed meat" means. If bacon wasn't processed, it'd just be pork but 99% everything I buy from a supermarket has been processed in some manner simply by packaging it. So do we need another traffic light code system on the packaging? Green (low processed food) to red (highly processed cancer causing food!)
