Stop using that MacBook Pro RIGHT NOW, says Uncle Sam: Loyalists suffer burns, smoke inhalation and worse – those crappy keyboards

Re: Customer service?

On my Mk2 Octavia, thers is a blind in the unit that can be moved to flatten the beam - as in a lot of the "projector" style headlights.

Even if you're not very dexterous around the back of headlmp units, and can't do it in situ, it's one nylon nut and a catch away from removing the whole unit. I can change my lights this way in less than 5 minutes.

Re: Trains..

They have to an extent, in the Paris Metro, which is a step up from low speed lines like the DLR - 1 line (14) was designed to be autonomous from birth and line 1 has been converted, with line 4 in progress.

Obviously it's not like converting a main line (no deviation from the route) but it's a start.

UK border at risk of exposure post Brexit, warn MPs

Lord Schwindratzheim

Re: Schengen?

Oh but it is a problem, due to the Le Touquet Treaty - that allows UK Customs officials to make border checks on French soil.

As a seperately negotiated agreement that can be terminated at any time by either party with just 2 year's notice, it represents a massive potential curve ball.

If the French do the pull the plug (and they have every right, due to the lack of support over the Calais migrant camps by HM Gov) it WILL be chaos.

And if the Br-idiots think leaving the EU will solve the problem all these frightful illeagals* just wait...

Facebook Messenger ... for who now? Zuck points his digital crack at ever younger kids

Lord Schwindratzheim

It's things like this that make me relieved I don't have children - I genuinely feel for any parent that has to deal with this sort of bollocks.

And who's fault will it be when (not if) the first evidence of misuse by innaproriate adults comes to light?

Not Zuck's, that's for sure...

Still got a few boxes of the Fuji in my fridge. Quality compared to the modern Instax stuff is wonderful, lugging around 3.5 kilos of attached Mamaiya less so.

Sonos will deny updates to those who snub rewritten privacy terms

Lord Schwindratzheim

I think it's the fact they are effectively making the data collection mandatory - and holding the users of expensive products they have shelled out for hostage.

Terms of the privacy statement are almost immaterial - users should have the option. it's the whole Thin End Of The Wedge argument.

Another vote to dump it

The thing that gets me as said before is, if users WANT something like this, you would expect them to gravitate towards Twitter etc. to feed their desires.

So apart from a little navel gazing, not quite sure what the point is...

Whatever, if the person responsible doesn't have the cajones big enough to admit it was shome mishtake, at least move it to the right column. Hell, even flowing it across the main content horizontally would be an improvement. As it is the proximity to the "Don't Miss" div is enough to kill it with fire.

Boeing just about gives up on the 747

Lord Schwindratzheim

Air France 747s are no more.

Last commercial passenger flight landed at CDG last week.

747 was also my first flight - PAN AM, LHR to JFK in the early 70s. Bissfully unaware of the mechanics of plane design as I was, the sight of the wings flexing on take off certainly grabbbed my attention...
