Ahh, the good old days of working in first-level support for a PC manufacturer who once sold their products in black and white boxes.

No loss indeed - a prime example of a 3year old thread from Windows 8 - fixed in Windows 10 - yes it took that long for them to even admit they had a problem - ahem issue.

Happy birthday, you lumbering MS-DOS-based mess: Windows 98 turns 20 today
I worked for Gateway support back in the 1990's. It was fun installing the piix4 drivers on Windows 95, before Windows 98 made the job easier by having built-in drivers for it.
It was fun when the customer started reading back every single message on the installation screen, including "yes" "no" "cancel".

Sadly, my love affair with Suse, since Suse 7, ended last year after changing to Kubuntu.
Hassle-free installation of codecs (how cool was that!) and instant Nvidia drivers without
adding repros.
Only relalised how good it was when I tried going back to OpenSuse 11.2 and spend way too much time trying to install gnomad2. It took over 40 minutes instead of 5, and upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04 was really sweet.

ISP blows the whistle on router chip 'fault'
Dodgy Chips
I bloody knew it!!! My Zyxel 660 , provided by me from the very dodgy B* ISP (the world's worst ISP in my opinion)
has been suffering cutouts and crap connections ever since I recieved it. Nothing but trouble, I tried flashing the router, but *T's proprietary router wouldn't accept it,
Eventually the router died, (just like my ISP), I binned both:
Happy ever after!
