Microsoft: OK, we have no phones, but look how much we love Android

Picture mirroring with MS Your Phone

This is definitely a version 1.0 as it only mirrors pictures in your Camera app. If you use another app such as Open Camera, PhotoScan, Messenger, Snapseed, Google Maps etc those photos will not be available.

Re: Surprised they don't make their own Android phones

They don't need to make their own android phones because it's already relatively simple to create a Microsoft android phone by installing Microsoft Launcher and Microsoft apps for android. These include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Edge, One Drive, Office Lens, Xbox, News, OneNote, Authenticator, Translator, SharePoint, To Do, Remote Desktop, Teams, Staff Hub etc etc. I'd say it's already pretty much a fait accompli. I've done it, it works very well, and I'm happy!

Probe: How IBM ousts older staff, replaces them with young blood

Re: Not just IBM

Mine too. Ultimate folly. Within the next 6 months they lost every contract they had and went bust. They made the most elementary mistake - they forgot to consider how the clients might feel about this. Every IT company needs to remember the basics, starting with "At 5 o'clock the entire intellectual base of the company gets up from their desks and goes home."

Re: Obvious solution

First you have to catch all 100 million of them. Good luck with that. We've been turning them into dog food for 200 years and haven't made the slightest dent in the population. Quite the opposite in fact. They've been making all the dents.

Microsoft sabotages own Lumia smartmobe flagship launch

On the other hand...

Microsoft has more spare cash than God. They don't give a damn about "failed" phones - they'll keep on trying different things until they get it right. That is the Microsoft way.

BTW - I can think of a lot of phone manufacturer executives who'd give their leftie for the same share of the smartphone market that MS has. A little bit of a lot is still a lot!

Fed-up sysadmins beg Microsoft to improve pisspoor Windows 10 update notes

Re: Quite Frankly

Well you've obviously not upgraded for some time, so how the blazes could you possibly know what you're talking about? Thirty five years of experience has taught me that actually you can trust Microsoft. And Windows 10 is their best OS yet.

Cornz1 - if it doesn't run with Windows 10 then it's about time you got rid of that Athlon 64 system!

Don't assume I'm some naive fan boy. I don't owe MS anything and if something better came along I'd use it. But I've tried virtually everything else, including Unix for years professionally, and keep coming back. (Cue the Linux trolls - I've only got one thing to say to them "drivers and driver installs")

Re: EULAs vs the law

So none of you guys use Google? Have Chrome installed? I believe, by any objective assessment, that you've already given up more privacy than anything Microsoft would dream of taking. Also Microsoft doesn't trawl your photographs and documents for information or use your contacts for their own nefarious purposes or record your query and ad usage to target you with more crap like some companies I could think of.

Well, judging by the Australian Women's Cricket Team, they play it better than the men!
