No they didn't, the push to join the EEC was because the UK was doing so badly, we joined to improve our economic performance, a promise which has largely being filled despite the best effects of some politicians.

Normally when a deal fails all parties return to the status quo, which in this case is staying in the EU. I have always found that threatening to shoot my leg off if I didn't get my way during negotiations was not very helpful.

66% of our trade is with the EU or countries with a trade agreement with the EU. We have hundreds of trading arangements with the USA alone, all gone with a crash out Brexit. No country in the world trades only on WTO terms.

In the USA when you walk into a shop to buy a mobile phone contract you will find headlines screaming at you that's it unlimited data, on page 37 clause c subsection iv it wil say the first small amount of data is at 4g speeds after which speed will be throttled to dial up modem speeds and you will pay a lot of money for the privilege.
