1 - Neo in the matrix doesn't hack from his workplace. He just works as a software engineer, and it's enforced even further in the interrogation scene that "by night youre a hacker" and as he works days (late after going to the club) we know he's not working nights.

2 - the best programmer / cracker that I know is a Muslim female. From Bahrain as it happens.

3 - you obviously didn't see die hard 4.0 where the most "leet" hacker was portrayed as a fat, single loner who lived with his mother in the family basement (Kevin Smith).

I'd say the focus should of been how unrealistic the hacking is, but Mr robot shows a few things which are relevant, such as social engineering.

I was having this discussion with my wife r.e is it worth buying a flagship over a budget handset? Last year we both bought Huawei honor c3s. At the time my phone was playing up and she hated the Samsung phablet she got lumped with. About 40 quid each for the phones, within 4 months my screen no longer works yet hers is fine. I got a broken s4 working and updated to lollipop but now with all the security issues Samsung are saying the s4 won't be updated to marshmallow. This is why I'm probably going to get an iPhone. The cost of the budget phone, fixes to the s4 and the original cost would have been equal to getting something fruity and at least I'd be getting updates. As for the man made climate change, look into the club of Rome and their book the first global revolution. It details (in the 70s) how governments would need to push man made climate change for control of resources and further taxation.

All well and good but what are the lengths of these updates? One of the reasons I'm probably going to switch to apple is that they have updates for 3 years per device. My Samsung won't go beyond lollipop. It's pretty frustrating when you're paying x amount for your phone thinking it'll last, only to be met with a myriad of security issues and none if them being rectified because your device is landfill.

Stole my wifes iPhone and managed to gain entry to it, quite obviously browsing the personal photos which we had shared. The nice thing about Apple (I use Android though) is that you can locate your phone, but more importantly delete whatever you like remotely. After that incident and finding the gentleman involved (I'll leave it to your imagination how well that went for him) we decided that sharing that sort of stuff was ultimately a bad idea.

However, if you know what modern culture is like most guys/ girls / transformers will send photos of themselves for "likes" or "wow you're gorgeous" replies. To complain that these will then be used against you is a bit, hollow IMHO. The simple solution is to keep your private life private.
