Not surprised. They had it coming.

Agree, they could also do with improving their quality. At the moment it is rubbish 2 lamps blew up on me last year upon fitting. The filaments went on switching on. Maplins motto seems to have been 'Over priced, Our customers are cretins and We don't care about Quality'. Eventually I went 20 miles to and got 2 lamps for the same price as one Maplin lamp elsewhere.
Last year after an MS Windows 10 update I had problems with Firefox. Firefox worked OK prior to this update. Anyway after aeons of time [2 months +] by MS Problem Centre [India] the Firefox issue was finally sorted. However, some kind soul had accessed my Yahoo account settings and linked all my Yahoo contacts to my LinkedIn [an MS Company] account. First thing I knew about it was phone calls and emails from everyone I' d had an email from or sent one to asking questions or saying they'd linked up. On checking my Yahoo settings, I found that the change was made at 2.30 am BST, about 8AM Indian time. At 2.30 am I was in the Land of Nod. Say no more.
So I can only hope this guy or his legal team has lots of patience. Good luck to him

I'm afraid someone is sadly mistaken, look at the number of Irish living in the in the UK. Add into that Brits with Irish grandparents ho can claim Irish/EU citizenship.. The GDPR applies to all EU citizens wherever they may be living. Read the GDPR, also the forthcoming Data Protection bill which incorporates quite a lot of the GDPR. See :

for the HMG overview
My email client has been reporting 'socket time outs". The last time it did this was just before the time of their web hack last year. I also lost my internet and email server connections for over 5 hours last week. TalkTalk blamed it on OpenReach. If you ring their service centre when you eventually get through you are transfered to their faults team immmediately you say what your prolem is. Then be prepared to wait ten minutes or more. Someone's either trying to hack them or they've been hacked! Thank heavens I'm eaving them!!
True, has the motto Customers do not count.
I bought a lamp from them . Got it exchanged due to fault. Eventualy went back 3 times., all lamps failed with in a week. On returning the item 3 times to them, on the second occacasion, got told the lamp failure was " due to a fault in your electrical installation" by a gent who claimed he was an electrical engineer but didn't know what omegaL was! Probably didn't know that cos phi is the power factor either. Never heard of the bathtub failure curve! Eventually after a lot of hassle got a refund and went to TLC Direct and paid a quid more than the Maplin single lamp price, for two lamps. Installed one of them and its still working! The failures that I experienced were typical of a lamp being dropped and the filiament coils being shorted as a result.
A company of last resort!
I've voted with my feet and left this dodo. The clowns include your full acount no. in their e-mailed bill notification to show its come from them despite the fact that the scammers have got it and quote it as proof that is TalkTalk making a phone call to you. The final straw was the daly calls from BT? , my ISP? etc. trying to get me to install TeamViewer. The blighters have obviously got your age/dob from the last of the 3 data losses by TalkTalk and work on the old and purportedly vunerable aged punters Their enthusiasum didoed somewhat when I told them I was using a laptop with BeOS and Net Positive installed on the laptop by my son. TeamViewer works in Mac, Windows and Linux enviroments but not BeOS. The guy went into orbit when I told him, operating system:BeOS., internet browser :NetPositve. TT are still having probs with their website today, infact its been funny for the last few days. Thank heavens I'm leaving these dodos behind!
