As Brit cyber-spies drop 'whitelist' and 'blacklist', tech boss says: If you’re thinking about getting in touch saying this is political correctness gone mad, don’t bother

BBC said it'll pull radio streams from TuneIn to slurp more of your data but nobody noticed till Amazon put its foot in it

Typical BBC

Perhaps the BBC realise that the main users of TuneIn / Amazon Echo's are white middle aged males, the exact group of people the BBC is trying to lose.

Mourning Apple's war against sockets? The 2018 Mac mini should be your first port of call

applebyJedi

Re: Macs typically have a longer usable life than Windows PCs ...

I have a 5k iMac that is just over 3 years old. Cost £2,000 and needs a new main logic board. At a cost of £580.80 which is the price of a whole computer in the windows environment.

My MacBook 12" needed a new screen after 8 months. Fortunately that was in warranty because it would have cost nearly the price of a new machine to replace the screen.

Apple is no where near as bullet proof as they would have you believe, but the OS is less taxing than windows so that it keeps going, even if your hardware doesn't.

Apple breathes new life into MacBook Air with overhauled 2018 model

watchOS 5 hints at new Apple wearables and life beyond the Watch

applebyJedi

Typical Apple

Apple, as per usual, have removed much functionality from the Apple watch, many of the apps that used to run from the phone have been removed so that Apple can flog you a watch that works WITHOUT the phone. Many app developers have stopped developing for that reason.

Here in blighty, you can only use this service on EE and it requires yet ANOTHER data subscription!

I have the original apple watch and watchOS5 isn't supported on it.

Ultimate Play The Game

I remember when games for the ZX Spectrum were all £5.00, then came Ultimate, who in fairness to them, produced some of the most fantastic games the spectrum every saw, but, they upped the price to £10.00 instead of the customary £5.00. Ok, everybody thought, they deserve more because the games are so much better, but low and behold, once other games manufacturers cottoned onto the fact people were prepared to pay £10.00, they all followed suit, no matter how rubbish the game.

Forward 35 years and here we are with a £1,000 phone. I hope that others don't follow suit, but somehow I doubt it.

UK authorities probe 'drone hitting plane at Heathrow'

applebyJedi
Paris Hilton

Firefly

I remember an episode of Firefly (Train Job) were Mal kicked a bad guy through Serenity's engine, and it didn't damage the blade one jot.

Surely this proves that a drone wouldn't damage an aeroplane engine!

Paris, because, well, just because!

applebyJedi

One guy

The number of 'incidents' near Heathrow make me think that there is only one person responsible of the majority of these drone strikes / near-misses. Hopefully now his drone is destroyed he'll move on to other forms of recreation, like train dodging instead.
