Re: Local Optician

That can easily be done via Group Policy or an application control piece of software.

I sometime wonder if the writers at The Register have worked on large scale IT, running XP is not really that bad especially if the machines are not connected to the Internet.

Apple: Er, yes. Your iCloud stuff is now on Google's servers, too

Strange, whats their huge data centers for then

That North Carolina data center is massive.

Is that not for iCloud and iTunes etc. Possible their slowly migrating off of AWS/Google onto their own platforms, they do have a lot of users mind.

Article does mention that all the data is encrypted by Apple so doubt Google/Amazon would be able to gain anything from the data anyway.

A lot of negativity in that article about SpaceX form ElReg

They have done some major stuff i.e landing the rockets used after take off. That is mighty impressive.

OK they have a few disasters along the way but hell NASA had a shit load of them.

I think what they have done in the last 10 years is pretty good for a young private company and will ultimately be the future of space travel with private companies such as SpaceX and Blue Origin.

No Google using coding techniques to get around it

The settings were in place but Google used techniques to get around it, hence the breach of Data Protection Laws in UK.

Google have always been a bit of a shady company, cant provide "free" products and be a £B company. They sell as much of you as they can to make more money.

Apple hurls out patches for dozens of security holes in iOS, macOS

At least Apple update their products, cant be said for Samsung/HTC and the rest

The benefits of Apple eco system is that they can push out all updates to all their supported devices and they get updated.

Google updates Android and the updates appear on practically no devices due to the manufactures not pushing the updates out.

I do also like how now they push all the updates out to all devices at the same time (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch, Mac), so only spend 1 night doing updates and it is pretty automated anyway.

How the hell did they figure that out

How did they figure that sequence out would unlock the phone.

Long time until aliens pick it up

Given at current speed, Voyage 2 will not reach nearest star for around another 80,000 years.

So no worries for most of mankind of it being picked up by aliens (if humanity still around then)
