The damage is done already, it will be difficult to make whatever good employees are left like the company again without a hefty compensation and company reconstruction, way too many assholes are still working there, assholes are the only kind that survived that harsh work environment.
I'm about to be out, just send my resignation letter today, 2 weeks notice count is on!. Agree completely with you, almost all the US people got fired on VPC, and the ones that resign are not being replaced, leaving the rest of the team with work overload and tools orphaned (who the hell is in charge of the labs?), the permanent employees on my team went from 4 down to 2, I got hired as a contractor with almost half the pay of the permanent employees, when you get hired you are thrown straight to the lions, no training at all, not even a welcome letter, they all expect you to know how to use the internal tools and processes (SM9 anyone?) without any training, the team manager can be replaced by a chatbot, he brings absolutely nothing to the team, all the responsibility is on the so called "team supervisors", that are just former HPE employees lashing whatever is left of the team forcing them to do extra time to attend incidents and changes, reminds me a lot of Samuel Jackson's character on Django Unchained, lol.
It just moves the problem somewhere else, electric cars do eliminate the pollution caused by internal combustion engine vehicles, the problem is that in order to produce those vehicles, raw materials have to be sourced and that process causes a whole lot more pollution, along with that, the manufacturing process pollutes a lot as well and you have to think that a lot of countries don't have a renewable and clean source of energy to charge the batteries of those cars, even worst when you add to that the planned obsolescence model on which those vehicles are made, use them for 4 or 5 years and throw away, which means, more waste!
Autonomous vehicles won't solve the traffic jams, they could actually become worst, lots of people that where not able to drive because of a physical disability, or where just afraid or didn't to drive will be able to buy a car and add one more to the traffic chaos!
We have to admit that cars are not a reasonable transportation solution for today's urban situation, city's residential and comercial zones layout is also an issue, it force people get displaced far away from home, so do the need to go to the office to work when you could do the same job from home.
Another problem is the "social status" that cars represent on today's culture, on lots of countries and cities around the world, traveling on public transportation is seen as a "poor people's" behavior, and the security problem in some cities where you can't walk peacefully on the streets without running a high risk of being mugged, raped or killed; forcing many people to buy a car to stay safe.
Xenophobe is bad for a country's economy on a globalized world, after building walls around the borders and getting out of all international treaties, how long do you think a country's economy will last? Do you think many jobs will be left after there is no place where a the country's economy can send their products and services without paying high taxes? The US is starting to look a lot like North Korea, perhaps it will be the next hermit nation?

HCI is more expensive than the tradition architecture, that without a reason, there are no financial benefits for the customer, as an example, i have compared the price of a 3 node Nutanix Xpress block vs a NetApp FAS2520 + Dell servers, $30K vs $20K, if you go with SuperMicro kit (like Nutanix does but charges for it like if they where made out of gold!) instead of NetApp and Dell kit, you can go even cheaper.
The HCI architecture makes more technical sense than the traditional architecture, I'm not debating that, the problem is that HCI vendors are trying to sell overpriced snake oil with ROI figures that not even their mothers would trust.
Their social WiFi and WIPS solutions can give you hot zones maps as well as track device locations on a perimeter, is not that hard to do, you just need APs located at strategic locations and know the signal attenuation on each spot on the perimeter, that way the APs can triangulate the location of the device, no need for the device to be connected to the network, even if you have the "wifi disabled", which is not true, it is always on and used by the device's OS manufacturer for location purposes.
...it is too darn expensive without a valid reason, they sell open source software and cheap SuperMicro kit, they must have a huge margin on their product, price is ALWAYS the problem when trying to sell Nutanix in our company (I work for a Nutanix reseller), the value added they offer over the competition is not enough to justify the 50%+ price premium.
I do use the online version of Office apps at work, thick Outlook sucks donkey balls, OWA is where it is at, I have Debian on my work laptop, so it's nice to be able to use office without firing up a Windows VM. I use Libre Office from time to time, the problem with it is that it brakes the format on documents, specially marcos, if I didn't have to share documents with customers and coworkers, I would stick to libre Office, but that is not the case.
Religions have killed people since we as specie have memory, the only way to stop it for good is educating people how stupid the concept of religion is, we have all the evidence in the world to prove it as well as the technology to settle the debate, but fear of the almighty, dinosaur, zombie, ghost and a bunch of old dusty documents written by people that didn't have the capacity to think that those documents could be used to wipe their asses effectively and invent toilet paper, is better evidence for most people.

They managed to stretch the average lifespan of IT companies, but looks like they are doomed already, costs cut is just a way of stretching that lifespan a bit more, but is not a definitive solution, that would be generation more income, which seems hard with current IBM portfolio.

Don't mind the barbarians, that primitive tribe is still trying to figure out "freedom", just stay away from their territory and you will be just fine, you are not missing anything.
I love the build in Opera's VPN feature, it is becoming my browser of choice, I use Firefox mainly because Ghostery and other add-ons, and Chrome for work related stuff because O365 web version likes Chrome better than the others, O365 works even better on Chrome than on IE/Edge!!.
That issue was bugging me for a long time, I have to use O365 at work and my laptop is running good 'ol Debian + Chrome, as usual we penguinistas are always placed last on MS list of priorities, just like they are doing with Skype now, it used to be a great piece of Linux software, now it is stuck on the eternal beta stage as an excuse to never fix it.
My 1961 Series 2 Land Rover is older than me, probably it is going to be there when I leave this world since I restored it at my garage with simple tools, basic knowledge, and a modest budget; big part of the body is aluminum and the chassis could be made from scratch by a welder with average skills. I can't say the same for Land Cruisers, they attract rust like sugar attracts ants, by the time you are done restoring it, you have to start taking care of the rust.
And after all that training and money spend, the service still sucks! I've never had a bad experience with Uber, in the other hand, I have had my fair share of bad experiences with traditional taxi drivers with no one to complain at, at least with Uber I have a phone number and an email to file a complain as well as a way to rate the driver behavior.
If people prefer Uber over traditional taxi services it's because they are giving a better service, there's nothing blocking traditional taxi services from leaving behind the stone age and updating their obsolete business model, giving their customers a service similar or better than Uber.
There is no need to offer a better service on a monopoly, after all no matter how bad the service is, it is the only offer in the market.
Don't know how taxi services are in your countries, but here Uber came to solve a big problem, shitty taxi services owned by political endorses whom got a license to operate because they financed a political party, so no matter how bad the service is, there's no one to complain at.
...not because they are plastic vs metallic, but because the interior is isolated from the outside so the driver have no clue whats going on outside it's car bubble, and have all kinds of electrical gadgets to keep the driver distracted. All cars should need to be shift by double clutching like old non-synchro gearbox trucks, that way the driver don't have a chance to pick the damn phone and get distracted.
