Facebook, WhatsApp farewell BlackBerry

mpinco

Once you get past the reality that you don't need the hord of games and that you really need a phone that serves your communications needs, you quickly arrive at BB10.

Wife moving from Android to BB10 this week. Face10 is the only app she needs outside the native BB10 suite. Think about it. Paying $700 for a phone to play candycrush.

Google to snatch control of Android updates from mobe makers – analyst

Thinking this is going to impact Blackberry Priv product line direction. Handing over all OS/security updates to Google minimizes the value proposition.

Is China dumping smartphones on world+dog?

Why spend for a more expensive device? One word - security.

Why buy a "smart"phone if your not going to use it for some level of financial activity? Devices produced at cost come with virtually no support and "maybe" someday updates? There are better places to save.

Has anyone looked at Intel financials? Also not pretty.

Here's The Other One

"Operating income down 25%, revenue down 5%, and the reason for the "beat" (and flat EPS) instead of an all-on disaster report is a more than two thirds decrease in the tax rate.

Why did I put up the little ticker last night that was all of a couple of lines? Because I didn't have to actually analyze anything or even get out a calculator; the table is right there on the second page of the report!

This report is an all-on disaster and documents an ongoing collapse; the firm had a 5% revenue shortfall but five times that in operating income.

The "client computing group" (that's PCs, folks) saw a revenue decrease against last year approaching 40%.

That's not a decrease or a "slowdown" it's an all-on collapse!..........."

Neil Young yanks music from streaming services: 'Worst audio in history'

mpinco

I remember walking into a real audio shop who had the Doors vinyl playing on high end equipment. The quality of the reproduced audio was VERY noticeable. Why would it be any different moving from low end streaming to high end analog? Streaming has its place where low quality is not perceivable because of equipment or surroundings. Analog has it place for accurate reproduction. Neil Young should know!
