https://techcrunch.com/2024/07/24/crowdstrike-offers-a-10-apology-gift-card-to-say-sorry-for-outage/
On Wednesday, some of the people who posted about the gift card said that when they went to redeem the offer, they got an error message saying the voucher had been canceled. When TechCrunch checked the voucher, the Uber Eats page provided an error message that said the gift card “has been canceled by the issuing party and is no longer valid.”
nice....
bought a Brother MFC-L8850CDW in November 2016 and never looked back after multiple canon MFC inkjets. approx 10,000 pages and 26,000 images and only issue I have ever had was a torn paper in tray wrapped around a roller, took about 2 hours to fix. use non-brother toner and works just fine.
my fvs336gv3 and fvs318gv3 (318 EOL support wise anyway) routers isolated right now but...I think they may have used the same setup for certs. so if I am right same "bad" wifi could also be an issue with them.
due to setup not an issue for me right now and I don't have the knowledge on how to check anyway.
maybe I looked at it all wrong but seemed to me this "launcher" was just a manner (on windows) to load the suite on startup for a faster application startup when called for.
I don't use the launcher itself but have it installed and set to load on windows startup and it seems to hasten specific app start times.
or I could be way off base.
try following a wiring schematic and circuit logic layout when diagnosing a vehicle with a battery drain in the field and you'll see why paper much better than a small screen.
especially when talking to someone (you know...using the phone as a phone....) elsewhere as they follow the diagrams with you. hard to talk on the phone and scroll through a 50 page file at the same time.
actually easy to implement although should not be have to put in that position.
a/c can time out on certain items while in flight (meaning next flight puts it over hours, good example is batteries timing out) so upon landing a/c is grounded and no tdmi/mel issued until addressed.
so flight and mtx planning would stop a/c at a mtx base before that time came close and reboot it.
meanwhile engineers should be scrambling to fix this or be getting fired.
years ago was involved with initial rollout and testing of pc upgrades to major airline.
systems were locked down, software needed to certify aircraft could not be used.
when asked my thoughts on conference call (base personal in my office) I said a fking idiot planned this.
did not know it, VP of company (at time largest carrier in world) was on call and spoke up said I am that idiot.
I said I stand by my statement and in my primary job (records) may ground most of your regional fleet due to this.
issue was fixed in less than a week.
could have heard a pin drop when I refused to apologize for calling him a fking idiot.
but...I was sweating a few days LOL
its unfathomable how this would happen. spent many years dealing with parts certifications on civilian aircraft (FAR121 carrier) and this is just bad.
spent even more years in records section of airline VERIFYING parts paperwork (certification under FAA/EASE), proper paperwork for the mtx done on the aircraft and proper inspections done after the replacement.
this should not have happened.
course I have to worry about daily stuff here, single digit (F) temps, high winds, 6-12 inches of heavy wet snow dropping tonight, etc so on and so forth. life in rural northeast maine can be....interesting.
but...as Old Dominion sings....thats a song for another time...

best of luck to everyone dealing with this, hope its fixed soon.
edit:fixed odd link to video
man had 15 pcs running ME, mix of ide, eide and some sata cards. none of them worked reliably even with no network or usb connections.
seems like the systems self degraded after 60 days or so.
can understand xp, can even support decision to keep it depending on situation.
but ME....jeez.
I downgraded some to 98SE and move others to 2K just to get OFF ME
if spare pc laying around can turn into a wsus server and use wsus for workgroup program
https://archive.codeplex.com/?p=wsusworkgroup
sorry wrong link posted first, left in place just to show trace
https://github.com/blndev/wsusworkgroup/releases
can then approve/decline updates as needed per groups.
this would be for non domain pc's.
domain (active directory) pcs dont need to use tool, just use wsus normally.
