Great article, as usual. Although I do think that projects like the Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc are needed to teach kids more about programming and electronics. I don't have kids, but when I do I'd rather they were building and programming electronic devices than browsing social media and playing video games when spending time in front of a computer screen.
I don't know a huge amount about this BBC project, so don't know how effective it might be, but I do get the feeling that it's largely political, and partly designed to prop up the government's crappy spending in our education system.
