There's nothing actually anti-Pharma in the article to be fair - most of that is in the comments. The article just talks about incentives - not the same as attacking Big Pharma.

If you follow the link to the redo website you can get the articles for some of the these drugs. In the cimetidine case there's lots of trial evidence listed - which is why the cochrane review is mentioned. You don't get a cochrane thumbs up without some solid evidence.

If you follow the link in the article you get to the redo project website - turns out there are two charities funding this work.

To be fair, this is an article in El Reg. If you want mechanisms of action and what not then do a pubmed search or follow the link to the redo project - the actual papers do go into the mechanisms of action.
