Being pedantic, but there's an 'h' in there.

Leaving Brooklyn? Fuhgeddaboutit

It's pronounced Fuh'-gedd-a-bou'-tit (or -it) depending if you live in Park Slope or Crown Heights. If you happen to live at the bottom of Myrtle or in the Flatbush area then the hard 'dd' is softened slightly.

The Repblicans are no different - they just answer without actually providing an answer, unlike the Democrats who develop hard of hearing syndrome when asked anything.

"...it's long been a factor of public life that certain MPs are sponsored by certain of such unions, and so on" - and for good balance, we won't make any mention of the MP's who are "sponsored" by private industry or who take on lucrative second (third, fourth...) jobs.

I concur. It's awful the way these new artists appear and become popular with people actually listening to them and, amazingly, are willing to pay for the experience.

Re: render unto caeser that which is his

Yes, MS is an expensive option. But have you ever tried to explain to a C-level that there are viable alternatives? They listen, state "Linux? Built by Commies? We don't support Commie terrorists. Apple? Liberals like Apple. My [closish relative] is a liberal" Then go on to tell you that "Windows is the way forward, after all Joe, yes I get to call him Joe ('cause I'm good at my job and am very successful) says his company uses Windows. So Windows it is. Oh, and don't forget the taxman. If we're clever enough we can pass the costs on to the good citizens of <nation> who believe in our right to do [whatever it is] " - end of conversation. But, look on the bright side - people have well paying jobs and consultancies because of MS Windows.

Jeb Bush: Repeal Obamacare and replace it with APPLE WATCHES

Re: Aye

"Though lets face it, the American health system is already a mess. My friend is unable to pay for health insurance (Obamacare) so as she is unable to get insurance, she is going to be fined, what sort of country will fine people who can't afford medical care? Where do they think they will get the money from? I despair." - that doesn't sound right.

Obamacare reduces the costs of health insurance. Everyone, except a few exempt groups, is entitled to health insurance at a cost they can afford. If you can't afford the insurance being offered there are Federal subsidies that help defray the costs.

Now the question becomes, which avenue did your friend use to obtain health insurance? The private market place or the Obamacare website? If the private health market place, then the costs are just ridiculous; if the Obamacare website (or State equivalent) then the costs are tailored to your income (as detailed on your last Federal income tax return)- though they don't take into account your own personal debts/repayments and so on. Or, has this friend actually been on the Obamacare website or relied on a private health insurance broker to obtain the necessary quotes?

Your statement sounds just too pat and familiar...

Re: Income Inequality is only the responsibility...

I quite agree, those of us who have the advantages of highly successful lives, careers and large bank accounts; for whom a serious worry is which soy milk to put in our morning latte are just the people to explain what someone should do! After all, if that homeless person would only get a job, they wouldn't be homeless. Stands to reason.

People like Morozov have it so wrong. These sort of people want everyone to have the same opportunities as any one else; they want the playing field leveled. They seek to destroy the only good thing to come out of the fifties, apart from proper slacks and shirts - the free markets of monopolistic corporate capitalism and the segregated chances of the successful discriminating people.

All those people for whom life's circumstances have put them into a position whereby they cannot escape are just stupid and don't deserve the riches we, as successful human beings, are so rightly granted or seized.

By gum, isn't stereotyping, especially when conducted without thought, favour, compassion, empathy or consideration, fun.

"American football may be richer, but takes infinitely more care to spread its largesse more equally around its clubs and players" - except the NFL and team owners gives us poor property taxpayers the bill for their stadiums and all the security for their carefully managed events. Then they let the players have a smidgen of the huge, almost tax-free revenues, they receive whilst fighting against proper long term funding of health care for those same players.
