DSSD says Violin's right: SSD format is WRONG for flash memory

Re: Proprietary flash modules

What do they teach in Economics Class in Canada? French?

Either DSSD offers greater value than a bunch of NAND-in-a-CAN, or it doesn't. The market will determine this and pay accordingly.

Pure Storage's 'disingenuous' financial figures still out there

The real red flag

Violin called out in their S-1 that they could not be successful unless their burgeoning PCI-e card business was successful. Nutanix is now hanging their hat on FC and all flash variants. Pure has started talking CI and "other cool mysterious stuff that will blow your mind".

"This isn't all we do."

Shouldn't it be a red flag when a company starts talking about "other stuff" before they have proven the original business plan?

In a world where success = raising money and spending it, maybe not.

Re: Slump or a time of transition?

Working to transform a $25B a year company so that it can thrive in a new world is hard.

It is quite an ambitious endeavor.

It is fascinating to watch Apple go through its lifecycle. "Managing your supply chain" is great right up to the point where you truly believe that you can out-innovate entire industries outside of your core competency.

This is a different kind of "innovator's dilemma".

The one where innovators start thinking that they are smarter than everyone else about all things.

Come on, Valley. Let's get this thing done. Again.

This time we won't destroy the universe.
