Everyone seems to have forgotten Elop went from Microsoft to Nokia. His orders were to bring Nokia into the fold. What better way to destroy enough company value than to bet the farm on Windows? This wasn't something done through stupidity or idiocy but a well-crafted plan by Microsoft. It is easy to blame this on incompetence but the record speaks volumes.
