JetBrains refuses to U-turn on subscriptions (but sweetens the deal)

If they offered the version from your final day then you subscribe, download, cancel. Then you do that once or twice a year and don't need to pay monthly subscription.

Apple iPhone 6S: Same phone, another day, but TOTALLY DIFFERENT

What about the memory?

The most annoying thing I find about the iPhone 6 Plus is its lack of memory. I use an app like Spotify in the car on bluetooth then I go somewhere and use maybe messaging and Flipboard and get back in the car and Spotify has been killed to free up space and I have to faff about going into it again so it will play over bluetooth. Same for many other apps being killed whenever I play a game.

Soooo annoying that a modern phone would do this constantly and completely breaks the flow of working with it.

If they have doubled the memory I'll be upgrading, otherwise I'll just stick to the crappy 6+ I have.

Just 1 more port and they would have had it

If they had 1xmagsafe + 1xUSBc or just 2xUSBc I think a lot of the arguing about how bad it is having 1 port would have never happened. I think this was a mistake on Apple's part not just from a practical point of view but because they took the focus away from what they have produced to what it is so obviously missing. So much of every review and the comments sections are taken up talking about the single port. When I asked people about whether they would get one they all focused on that limitation and said no. I haven't actually met a Mac user yet that has said they would buy it (and there are a lot of Mac users where I work).

Even though you can argue that it is the future, I prefer a future where I can power and USB at the same time without having to remember/buy a dongle. Even if you say it is not needed, it is an image problem and I believe will drastically reduce the sales they could have had if they included 2 ports.

Mega fatcat Kim Dotcom in deportation drama over SPEEDING ticket

Somtimes_Right

There are no 50Km roads up around his mansion that are safe to drive at the speed he was doing - none. Good riddance to him (from another NZer).

However, the one reservation I have is that if the US is going to chase him over MegaUpload then they also need to charge Google with the same crimes for YouTube and Vimeo needs to join the list and just about any other video service. There are so many illegal videos on all the video services that MegaUpload disappearing has not made any real difference. What they are taking MegaUpload to task for is not following through on takedown notices and providing a means to have multiple links to the same video and then only taking down any links that were notified, not the videos themselves. However, that is a hazy distinction that the US government is using to avoid having to take Google to task.

Apple hit by INSIDER LEAK: New iPad Mini 3, iPad Air 2 blabbed

I don't get the fuss

I've read a few things over the last couple of weeks that shrug off changes other manufacturers make to their phones and then make it sound like a big thing that Apple is adding Touch ID, better camera, etc. to their ipads. But this is totally expected and we all knew last year when they released the iphone with touch ID it would come to the ipad a year later. There is really nothing about these new ipads that make them worth upgrading to. If they were to come out with proper stereo speakers (you know, one on each end of the thing rather than 2" apart on the same end!) or something like that I would actually see a point to upgrading (actually this is a feature of the ipads and iphones that is so brain-dead I find it hard to imagine ever buying another one with the android manufacturers, except Samsung, now putting out proper stereo positioning).

I can understand people sticking with Apple because their app ecosystem generally is better - I have an Android phone and iPad and I much prefer apps from the Apple side) - but their hardware is really underwhelming compared to where android manufacturers are going.

BENDY iPhone 6, you say? Pah, warp claims are bent out of shape: Consumer Reports

Wasn't heat a factor?

Although I think this whole thing is way overblown I can't help wondering if the most important contributor to the issue has been ignored since it was first mentioned - heat. The first article I read on Bendgate mentioned the theory that the fact the phone is aluminium and had been in a pocket for some time would mean heat was a contributing factor in softening the casing.

The tests so far, including the original video for Bendgate, pretty much show that the amount of force required to bend the 6+ is way more than normal use would supply, but if the phone was pre-heated to body temperature would that reduce the force required?
