RAF pilot awaits sentence for digicam-induced airliner dive

Re: Airbus design flaw

You have to fly wth your left hand on any modern airliner, from the left hand seat, your right hand would be on the power/trust levers, for landing anyway.

As a professional pilot, it doesn't matter what hand you use. I switch between seats regularly.

But agree with the other comment that there shouldn't be a ledge to pace any items around the sidestick.

Practicalities

I'm a UK airline pilot. I can't comment (usefully) on the legal aspects of these devices.

With regards to the Amazon proposal: I think it is certainly something we'll see in the future. There are serious obstacles (no pun intended) to overcome before I can ever see it becoming reality.

In commercial aviation, safety is a priority, or at least it should be. How would Amazon deal with a failure of an in-flight drone on a delivery? Until they can safely land a drone with a technical problem, then I can't see it becoming reality. Bearing in mind that these are likely to be operating in built-up areas. The risks to people and property is high. The risk of collisions with other drones is relatively small and can be mitigated by good policies.

But when a drone goes through your greenhouse, conservatory or worse your precious Corsa,... Well.

VPN Anyone?

I've had a handful of these stats running for over a year now.

I recall posting a comment somewhere else regarding Heatmiser's new Neo stats which have to operate through Heatmiser's "service". This posed an unaccepted loss of control for me so I decided to stick with the WiFi stats and just VPN in to my home network to remote control.

Which is only really handy if you're away from the house for more than a couple of days during the winter....so not very.

Port forwarding seems a bit old fashioned these days...??
