Microsoft SQL Server for Linux is a brilliant and logical idea

Calorus

Don't touch it with a barge pole - it will be error prone from the word go and a monumental security hole for two reasons: 1) closed-source, 2) at some point, when it fails, Microsoft will stop supporting it, just as it stopped supporting Skype for Linux leaving you with a festering, suppurating hole in the middle of your stack.

You've been warned; beware.

MAME goes fully FOSS

To be fair...

Grand Theft Auto, FF etc. cost Blockbuster sums to make, but could you sink 100's of ours into a single film in the course of a few months?

DAMN YOU! Microsoft blasts Google over zero-day blabgasm

Re: Sorry, but Google were uttely wrong.

Yes on its own.

Once Microsoft had been informed, it's entirely Google's courtesy to wait at all.

They'd be within their right simply to publish on discovery, it's just courtesy that they decided to give a multi billion dollar company 3 months to come up with a fix.

Re: Sorry, but Google were uttely wrong.

Totally true.

It says everything that MS weren't bright enough to spot it.

Narp. 90 days is a long time.

The bad guys probably already know. 90 days is enough to time to fix a gaping security hole, if you care enough.

What's more, if Bing had been in the same position with ChromeOS they would have stuck to their own terms too.

4K-ing excellent TV is on its way ... in its own sweet time, natch

Re: ...and then you show them

Don't go and press your face against a 4K screen and get over excited: get 3 or 4 metres from one like you would at home, and then work out if there are better ways to spend £1,000, like a 3 really good holidays or something.

The old Faster Horse argument is generally applicable.

The problem is 4K is just that: a faster horse -- but it's only day faster on a round-the-world trip.
